Map design that screams 90s in a bad way.
Doom 2
MAP12 - The yellow door room with the moving platforms and switches. This room looks ancient in an uncomfortable way. The SW1BROWN is a visually bad texture for pressed walls, the cacos are placed in such a way that you can't just BFG them all at once and you have to wait for the platforms to rise/lower. The room's a novel gimmick though which reminds me of a funfair shooting gallery but more disorienting.
MAP29 - The mancubus/revenant cages near the exit. Oversized and easily bypassed. Most often the mancubi end up killing the revenants at the beginning which makes me forget the boneheads existed. There's minimal line of sight southward on the left cage, making only the right sided mancubus attack the player from long distance sometimes. Empty cages with nothing significant.

This is what bothers you? And not the fact that you can just walk around the Cyberdemon to the exit before he even rises from the pit?

The teleports right in front of the doors in Unholy Cathedral is 90s as hell.
And the very concept of Barrels o fun too.
The teleport in Against thee wickedly that takes you to one of four different locations depending on which angle you step in it.

Also the monsters that can shoot you and walk out of the walls in that spinal textured hallway in The Spirit World.

The teleports right in front of the doors in Unholy Cathedral is 90s as hell. OH GOD I hated that part so much. The only time I had to re-use a guide once because of that level during a re-re-playthrough.

The only time I had to re-use a guide once because of that level during a re-re-playthrough. I still waste too much time if I want to explore this map and get all the secrets, no matter how many times I've played it and learn some tricks to memorize certain teleports. This one and the one in Doom 2 MAP19 the citadel. Same thing,. I am better at knowing how certain things work as I've played them too much, but they are maps that if I play blindly and try to find everything, I would be lost for an hour. The citadel even, allows you to escape by just collecting two of the keys.
