Things in Doom that deceived your mind back in the day. Not to be confused with new findings and false memories. - I used to think that the damaging liquids in Doom and Heretic consisted of souls gripping and detoriarating the player. - When the player's HP dropped below 60%, I thought Doomguy's eyes were ruined blind while in reality, blood was packed in the eyeballs due to bleeding inside. - I thought the built-in demos were computer controlled due to how robotic the Doom shareware v1.8 demos looked like until in Doom registered v1.2 DEMO1 where the player displayed some sense of fun when he crushed the cacodemon. - The skull in one of the marble textures looked like a fat mancubus before I noticed the tubes in its jaw.

I used to think that the plasma gun projectiles had splash damage. I think there was another game I played that had a rapid firing laser gun that did so I felt uncomfortable using the plasma gun up close so the electricity wouldn't blow up in my face.
Also before I tried playing doom without cheat codes I thought the game would be waaaaay harder.

I used to think that the plasma gun projectiles had splash damage. I used to think the same for Revenant and Mancubus projectiles, heh.

Mancubus projectiles *don't* cause splash damage?
My fucking mind is blown. How could I not have noticed that before?

For a long time I believed that the damage from berserk punches were proportional to how fast you were moving when you hit the guy. Whenever I grand slammed an imp across the room standing still, I thought it was a glitch, and whenever I got a running start and the monster barely moved, I thought I clipped the monsters hitbox just in time.
Also I used to think gray crates were blue.
