My trainer has recently introduced me to the world of craft beer and I must say that I have had the pleasure of sampling some very tasty specimens.
Just last night I went down to the liquor store to pick up a beer called Zombie Dust. But much to my displeasure, they were sold out. So I was reluctantly going to settle on Budweiser or some other mass produced piss when I saw the cooler of craft beers. So I went to see what I can get my hands on. I found a 1 pint bottle of a milk stout called "Imperial End Of Days." The label looked pretty cool, so it stuck out. I read the label and saw that it had a 10.5% alcohol content. Upon further examination, I came across the flavor description and my kind was blown at the concept. "Milk Stout with cacao, vanilla, chillies, and cinnamon". Now, everything seemed fine...but chillies in beer? This peeked my interest. The 1 pint bottle was $10, so I bought it and figured it was at least worth a shot. So I went home, grilled myself a steak with some eggs. While I cooked dinner I placed my favorite mug and the bottle in the freezer. Twenty minutes later it came time to eat and taste The End Of Days.
God. Damn.
When it first hits your tongue, you get the cacao and vanilla. It is thick and sweet. But after you swallow it, just when you think it's over-BAM. Your taste buds are hit by a freight train made of chillies and cinnamon. It doesn't linger for too long, just a couple of seconds. But it was such an interesting combination of flavor. Sweet and then a quick little spicy kick for an after taste. This is definitely something worth buying again.
What are some of the tastier or more interesting beers you have had?
