If anyone is active on that website, I think it would be a big service to this website if they were to create a Doomwiki entry. Particularly for the propose of setting the record straight on all the stigma and misconceptions that some people have about this place. I see there is a page for DBP, but none for the website itself.

I like the DBP catalogue on Doomwiki. It's fun to look through. An actual article about doomer.boards.net itself though... I wonder what should/would be put on there. I can see a billion different ways it can pan out, and it can go awry if anyone decides to get petty about it and pull a narrative in any direction. Interesting enough though, when looking at doomwiki.org/wiki/Doomworld, even it dredges up some controversial stuff too regarding that site's history, and it mentions stuff more controversial than DoomerBoards has ever been accused of.

Doomwiki generally is well run, good people over there. Yes, the point is about displaying the entries and any associated 'high profile' happenings just like the doomworld wiki enry has. What would go badly is if too many people attempted to add stupid stuff or other things on the entry, they would probably be reverted within minutes.
I've pinged Red on the prospect of adding Doomerboards and Doom Universe to the doomwiki. The whole point is to be a wiki of doom stuff right? Both of the sites are, at the end of the day, doom communities too. I have a wiki account but usually use it only for my own entry, but could do other stuff if I would be allowed to.
Edit: So it would be possible for a doomerboards entry since the DBP projects already have an entry. I will get started on a page, using the doomworld entry as a template, that way history related stuff can be added also.

I'm with noisyvelvet, I think it's a double-edged sword and one that can potentially have the opposite effect. Best case scenario, the page wouldn't actually mention much besides it being a doom site founded by Kontra Kommando, administrated by 40oz, that produces the DBPs. I'm not sure any of that information is worth creating a new page over. Most of the important happenings and events are pretty much guaranteed to trigger an edit war. There's no way in hell that stuff like the DBP ban won't turn it into a war zone. Ditto for the site's longstanding animosities with Doomworld.
I haven't had any issues with anyone at the Wiki or anything but I think there's a lot of potential for things to go sour.

To be fair, that is pretty much what the doomworld entry is though.. some news, past trivia, past features, what it is and some links. Things can't really go sour on the wiki, pages aren't deleted just because some folks did bad edits or some drama, it is simply reverted to the state it was when it was accepted as an entry.

Actually I can see it causing some drama with the "DELETE THIS STOP PLATFORMING LITTERAL NAZIS ON THE WIKI REEEEEEE" crowd, so it ought to be good for a laugh.

Kontra has no Doomwiki page about himself either, yet I have one.

I have a page somewhere on it. I think the sole community credit they granted me is inventing the term Nickbakery.

Wiki pages are bestowed on you by someone. For Joe, Xymph made the page 4 years ago. Sometimes it’s just done, usually for a huge number of contributions.

No reason why we can't make it ourselves I suppose though I'm not entirely sure why we would need it. It honestly sounds like, drama bullshit left aside, the only reason the page would exist would be to point to the DBP page.

Seems like your Aliens mod was just used for articles because it has pop culture as a theme and pop culture gets clicks on articles, same reason why the only DBPs to get news articles are the Space Balls DBP and the Fred Durst DBP, simply because they use pop culture as a theme. If there'd be a wad themed around Breaking Bad or something like that it'd get news articles too.

The cyberpunk theme was popular long ago, Blade Runner is a popular 80's movie, if DBP37 would've had Blade Runner in it's title it'd definitely get a bunch of articles because then articles could put Blade Runner in the headline and get a bunch of clicks because it's pop culture.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like the theme, I am a big Ridley Scott fan (clearly from my love of Aliens). But It really only became popular recently again, and marketable with the New blade runner movie.

Cyberpunk is cool, but it's revival in popularity is the current zeitgeist for internet culture nowadays. it is no coincidence that DBP#37 is the most successful for that reason. Now, there's nothing wrong with that. As you say, people who like the movies I made mods on are probably clicking on it partly for that reason. But you need to recognize that if you think it only applies to me, you're being a bit hypocritical.

Also, no doubt the revival of stuff like vaporwave helped revive the aesthetic too, which can be attributed to current internet culture.

It doesn't apply only to you, as I've said earlier, the Space Balls DBP and Fred Durst DBP had articles just because of its pop culture theme.

It honestly sounds like, drama bullshit left aside, the only reason the page would exist would be to point to the DBP page. You’re not allowed to make your own wiki page (about yourself). It would get deleted. About the doomer boards one, I’ve already submitted the page to Red for proofreading.
