In which bands you have seen live and in the flesh are reviewed.
Meshuggah Facemelting. Still couldn't tell you what the band looks like, because for the entire show they were blasting the audience with a high-powered lighting show that turned the flesh of the front row translucent and utterly fucked my retinas.
No idea what the setlist was, which is fine, because Meshuggah really only have one song, which started at somepoint during the year 2000 and still hasn't finished yet.
If I had one beef, it would be with the technical perfection inherent; there was, perhaps, a feeling that there was no point in seeing them live, because their live performance sounds exactly the same as the studio recording on the CD, no exceptions. It's amazing from an OCD purist's standpoint, but maybe the lack of spontaneous fuckery removes something from the overall live band experience.
Mibbies aye, mibbies nae. I can't fault them if it just seems like they are going through the motions, because the motions are fucking impressive, yo. Five star band.
Judas Priest I caught them during the Epitaph tour with Halford et. al. And, motherfucker, that Halford can *sing*.
Alas, then, that the band is past its prime. The pensioner shuffle was in full effect, there were too many gaps between songs because of prostate cancer necessitating frequent piss breaks. They are still wearing the same ridiculous shit that they wore in the 80's - Halford, decked out in this massive silver spacesuit three sizes too large, looked like a fucking tortoise craning his neck out of his shell in search of lettuce.
During one particularly cringeworthy moment, he donned a motorcycle on a rail and was tootled round the stage three times at 3 miles per hour. Judas Priest on a mobility scooter. Jesus Wept.
Three stars, because some of those songs are still pretty awesome.
Jane's Addiction Utter crap. Lead singer sounds like a man gargling cocks whilst simultaneously getting kicked in the balls. Stuff that works on a studio album doesn't work live, backing tracks utterly overpowered everything else.
Best moment of the show was the singer strapping a pair of maracas between his legs and inviting the crowd to lick his balls, shimmying all the while. I think he liked the lukewarm Scottish crowd about as much as we liked him.
Two stars, because giving them one star is homophobic.

The most fun band I've ever seen live is Mushroomhead. I have seen them probably eight or nine times. Their entire show is like Blue Man Group meets a haunted house. The water drums get the entire front row absolutely soaked.
Good thread idea.

Bands I am very proud to have seen live:
Venom (I've seen Venom with Cronos, and the new members. I've also seen Venom Inc. , which is with Mantas, Abbadon and Tony Dolan.) Carnivore Anal Cunt
I saw Carnivore and Anal Cunt at the same show in Brooklyn, back in 2006. Both Seth Putnam and Peter Steele died a not too long afterwards.
I've been going to shows in NYC since high school, back in the early 2000s.

I saw Iron Maiden live in 2004. Motorhead was the opener, then Dio came on, and then Iron Maiden. Cool show. I also saw Emperor back in the day(1999 or 2000). I've seen Manowar twice. Both times were excellent.

Christ almighty, you saw Anal Cunt live? How did it smell? lmao! The lead singer, Seth Putnam had to walk around with a walker, because he been in a coma for a while from injecting heroin and crack-cocaine. Ironically, he made this song:

I can't think of bands I've seen live... But I wish I could of seen El Duce and The Mentors. They put on an awesome show. I saw them twice. Once in NJ, and another time in Brooklyn.

It was with the newer singer a few years ago. I'm too young to have seen them with El Duce. Nevertheless, they were great shows.

Some years ago I went to a show with Toxic Holocaust, Trap Them, Kataclysm and Napalm Death. Every band shredded. It was an awesome day.

I saw Slayer live in 2008 and fucking loved it. They looked drunk as fuck and I was expecting to witness one of those rare bad gigs, but no, they sounded absolutely phenomenal. Definitely a cherished memory. I consider myself very lucky to have seen them while Hanneman was still alive.
Job for a Cowboy and Cannibal Corpse also played at this festival and were awesome. There were a bunch of late 90s / early 00s bands there but those 3 stood out to me for all the right reasons.

I saw them live a few Summers ago when they toured with Alice in Chains. Janes Addiction sucked really bad live. I was never a fan of their music and the singer was practically high when he performed. I remember he shared a bottle of red wine with this crowd (well more like the first row of the crowd).

Brazilian death metal band; Nervochaos, we hardly get any good bands here so it was really special seeing them and making friends with them.. and on their last South African gig a very drunk uninvited deathevokation got up on stage and did backing vocals for one of their songs. It was amazing.

Went to a concert in the past week. Mushroomhead.
I got a bad ass shirt that I bet everyone here can appreciate. I'll share it tomorrow.

Here's the shirt I got at the Mushroomhead show. It is for one of the opening acts, Ventana. Yes, that is the vocalist acting as the fucking Doomguy attacking a goddamn Cyberdemon. So naturally, I had to buy it. Both for my love of Ventana and of Doom.

I saw Behemoth live the other day and was actually surprised by their conviction, the guitar tone was dirty (in the best way), instead of overproduced vocals, the vocalist just used an echo effect and combined with his strained vocal chords and harsh voice it reminded me Sid E Burns (Sideburns, haha) from Repugnant.. I wish they didn't water down their studio sound so much, I'd still own their cds if they did. Such a brutal performance!

None, because I live in the middle east and none of the bands I like tour there anymore as far as I can tell.
Here's a list of bands I wish to see live : NOFX, Bad Religion, Sunny Day Real Estate, Crywank, Teen Suicide/Starry Cat, Mom Jeans., Totorro, 30footfall, Basement, Streetlight Manifesto, Pennywise, Guttermouth, Snuff, Jawbreaker, OFF!, No End In Sight, Frenzal Rhomb, Satanic Surfers and Man Or Astro-man?.

The only "real" band (to say so) I was ever able to see performing live was Saturnus 2 years ago in my hometown. They were absolutely devastating, and the singer slayed:
Too bad I'll never attend the festival again, for the simple fact that the entrance was supposed to be free and now, not only that you have to pay, but the tickets are also terribly overpriced for what it offers. The 2017 edition was... well, underwhelming would be an understatement... glad I didn't attend it...
