i am trying to play map 13 of it and i dont understand why everyone always says that this wad is so great. because i play it and the first maps before the tech base come are extremely good. but the first tech base level is just okay and the level 13 is so terrible. it always puts like 20 enemies of the same type in one room and it makes them come out of the door so i stand there and shoot at them all the time and if one comes out i hide at the door and wait there until they die. and its just boring. i dont understand why this wad is so famous because these levels are the biggest garbage i have ever played in my entire life. i have this level so extremely fucking much and when i finally finished it i had to play map 14 and that was even worse . . . its so boring and its also unfair. because it just puts like 400000 hitscanners in one room and then you die and if not , then fighting them is just extremely boring because first thing is , its still a very long fght against a big group of the same enemy and then its not exciting and doesnt have variation to it. and then i lose motivation to play very well and try to run past them but it doesnt work and i die , and i get so extremely angry that i delete the wad from the pc because of it and when i play it again i download it again. and i want to play more of it but if i skip the maps i will lose all my weapons.
okay so if some one likes this wad can some one please tell me why you like it so much and how i have to change my play style so that i can also enjoy all the maps of it please ? because people say all the time the maps at the end are so extremely good and i want to get there. and if i change the difficulty in map 13 i first have to start a new game in a lower difficulty and then i have to type idclev13 and that kinda sucks because i lose all my weapons. so how do people play this wad with ultra violence , without getting bored of it ? can you explain how you play this without getting bored ??

You know what's worst? There's no aliens on it. Nada. Zero. I mean, it's hella confusing. It's the player the alien that is supposodely getting revenge? It's the demons? Who knows. It seems that the people behind this wad died from mysterious causes a long time ago. We may never know the truth.

no a virus mihght trigger if u quit but if you get passed the quit by alt f4 then you can not be haunted when you exit alien ventedde

okay really , is this why i was haunted by a demon in my house ? and that scares me even more now because i read on the internet that the person who made the toxic touch level is dead. and i am scared that he was the demon and that he is haunting me . . .

Finally someone that agrees with me! Haha, are you trying to say you have made better maps since '99 or whenever you made your contributions to AV? I always thought those two maps were two of the better ones from the middle section of AV. edit: Black Label was a nice surprise when it arrived. Great maps!

i hate map 13 and map 14 from alien vendetta. i think they are really boring. and on top of that the enemy encounters are not only unfair but also boring , and do not have any variation in them , and they just really suck. they are not fun to me. and every map until map 12 , including map 12 , is really fun and good , and they also look good , and map 13 and map 14 look good but they make me angry and bore me at the same time. and i cannot get over it. and it is an extremely big and terrible disappointment for me because the other maps at the begining until map 13 are so extremely good and really awesome , they re so much fun and no matter if you play in brutal doom , project brutality , or vanilla , they re extremely much fun to play , and they are varied and extremely creative. so i dont understand why map 13 and 14 were made , i just dont get it. and if they were not so long i could play them and just say , okay well i will rush through this and then the fun will start again , but it drags on for way too long so that it makes me even angrier. and at the end of it there s a bunch of archviles , like 20 archviles that is just impossible to survive no matter how good you are , so if you force yourself to play through them and youre already really frustrated and tired from this map , you ll be killed any way , with no way to survive this without cheating. i think its one of the worst levels created by any one ever , and the biggest disappointment in my entire life , and it makes me hate alien vendetta so extremely much when i am in a bad mood because they ruin the entire wad. and it makes me sad.

Every megawad has at least one or two stinkers in their maplist. Also, how can you say that MAP13 and MAP14 ruin the entire wad if you haven't even played the entire wad?

Work continues on Black Label! Actually quite a lot is "ready" but we are kinda stuck in testing/tweaking stages and are all very busy with RL work lately, I really want to get something out this year though (and sooner rather than later). And yeah my original gangsta AV maps were started probably around 1997, and slightly enhanced in 1999, but that didn't save them from being boring slogs imo. I'm thankful that something like Scythe came around to be able to teach us that sometimes less is more.

If you're using Zdoom or something like that, and you don't want to lose your weapons, then type changemap map15 in console.

Yeah, MAP13 and MAP14 are tough. And visually they are just techbases. But I learned to love them, especially MAP13 because things are so tense, there is a cyberdemon with various monsters around in huge warehouse, there is a corridor with the simple zombie soldiers but you blast with bazooka or plasma gun and there are lot's of gibs there, it can become fun if you can manage.
But those are not the maps that makes me love AV. I love the early maps because of the atmosphere and simplicity while providing some frantic fights in short, but mainly the famous maps that made it in TOP100 for example like the egypt epic huge map Mirsi Halek (MAP20) and that other one Toxic something (MAP10) and MAP11 which is like 20 but with an arabic theme. From MAP25 it becomes too slaughtery, although I like few slaughtermaps if they do it right for me like leaving you plenty of space and become epic battles that you win. For example I love MAP25 (tought at start, but if you overcome you own the territory at the church as your base and you have the upper hand, also great mediavel theme and music), but hate MAP26 (which happens to be beloved in the community as it resembles those hot start with nowhere to run and symmetrical boring arena modern slaughtermaps). Then 27,28,29 are also slaughetry but managable. But yeah, I like AV for the previous very atmospheric maps, maybe it's nostalgia. I don't know how I managed through the later maps when I played this map a long time ago where my skills weren't even good. Hmm..

in map 13 you have to spam the bfg all the time. and thats boring. and when you get to the end theres like 40 archviles and its impossible to play that map without cheating or the bfg. and when i think about this map it makes me angry

There's even an invulnerability near the key. The exit area I remember has mancubus and imps, and it's behind the cargo room with the cyber. I'd say the NE room (not the one where you teleport to the red key, with the teleporting imps, but the one before it) is the hardest. That and the BFG room and maybe the courtyard with spiderdemons and the cargo room. The zombieman corridor is still my favorite part of MAP13.

I liked Alien Vendetta a lot when I played it (back in 2013? I can't remember). I understand why it could be considered overrated nowadays. But it holds up and was a very good stepping stone from the IWADs for me. I always remember Nemesis, Beast Island, Overwhelming Odds, Misri Halek, Demonic Hordes, and Dark Dome quite fondly. Some of the other maps were more basic, box-and-hallwayish than I remembered, but they still mostly played well.
Also, I do consider Map26: Dark Dome the real final level in that WAD.

Hmm, good question. I wasn't great at Doom back then, so I just saved a lot and played slowly. But I enjoyed the maps because they were cool and big. But I also played continuously, which helped. Map14 is especially crazy, then it calms down a bit afterwards until later.

Play Map20 of Alien Vendetta and then come back and tell me if you still think it's a bad or boring wad.
