There's nothing to miss, the ban says you harassed someone in a private message, and you then confess to actually doing it. There IS a thing to miss and you miss this completely.  I even bordered it, just for you! |

Harassment is for repeated, continuous speech of which the other party doesn't want such things directed at them. Now, if someone kept on calling them names and other words throughout a period of a few weeks, then that is harassment. But getting banned for flat out saying someone is wrong and are behaving in a retarded way (too many folks on the net act totally retarded nowadays), is not harassment. That is just not being able to handle middle school juvenile name-calling. Boo fucking hoo. How do you know if he wasn't making a repeat offence? Either way, he called someone retarded in a PM and that's the main thing to take from the ban message and the confession, please don't get into an English lesson about what 'harassment' means in the dictionary. |

I realize that you said something in a private message that led to being banned for harassment, and that to conflate what was said in this hidden message none of us know the contents of with harassment (which you've posted irrefutable proof that she did) would make her braindead or retarded. This really isn't driving the point home the way you think it is. Perhaps there's a slim chance the the contents of the message were "Hey I think your are really smart and your brain is healthy and functioning very well, don't you agree?" but I highly doubt it because from every post I've seen by you it would seem to me that those positive uplifting words are not even in your vocabulary. Nevermind that there really isn't any circumstances where saying someone must be braindead or retarded is warranted. I don't approve of anyone speaking to you that way on this forum and if it were happening to you I would make sure it stops. Because that is harrassment. The person doesn't have to registered here and validating your attacks with a response for it to be harrassment. They're not obligated to tell you how it makes them feel. I'm not really interested in what your qualms are with this person, and I don't see anyone here prodding you to elaborate on it even a fraction of how often you bring it up. It seems to me like you're posting it here because you want this person to know that the conversation about how they suck is still relevant and active here. It's like you're really betting on the chance that this person will see it, and feel like shit about it. I don't mind being called an asshole, *phobe, bigot etc. Hell I don't even care for nation-wise slurs toward me. It sure start to grind my fucking gears when somebody start to spit slander and names related to map/nomap (pedo) subhuman pieces of AIDS riddled shit toward me. Honestly I'd performed a physical harassment over anyone who would dare to do it to me right in my face, directly, it's a matter of principle and of clear mind. What he said might not have been super nice and friendly, but it doesn't fall under the umbrella of harassment, which is why he was supposedly banned. Explaining to someone your opinion of them, even if that opinion isn't very positive, doesn't rise to the level of harassment. Harassment is defined as aggressive pressure or intimidation. Now, if he had continually messaged the person over and over or found some other way to pester them repeatedly, you might have an argument. But simply private messaging someone once in the way that he did isn't akin to harassment, and it's evident that they simply didn't want to deal with him rightfully pushing back on their selective and unequal enforcement of rules. I find there is more than one form of harrassment: - The continious type which is what you refer to - And the singular, insulting type. One can deem that offensive but also analogus to harrassment.
The phrasing used would definitely fall under the latter. Besides if you need to call someone retarded or their actions retarded than you aren't phrasing yourself too well.
If that's because the user's tongue isn't well equipped for that, then that would make sense, but that's not mentioned here.
