I have always hated summer. Even as a child, the only thing I liked about it was a break from school and the idiots therein.
Summer is hot, humid (at least where I'm from), rainy, sticky, and fucking bugs are buzzing and crawling around everywhere. Hot humidity makes even the shortest tasks regrettable. Want to step outside to grab something from the car? Better bring a goddamn rag to wipe your face off once you get back in. Now you're back in the house and good God almighty a fly the size of a volkswagon is buzzing somewhere and you will never find it. The noise is driving you fucking insane. Just when you think it can't get worse...oh, cool...a fucking tornado.
Give me blizzards and shorter days over this crap any day.

It's been 98 degrees(fahrenheit) for about 3 or 4 days now where I live. Just the short walk from the parking lot to my work building puts me in a bad mood. The humidity is legendary.

Just when you think it can't get worse...oh, cool...a fucking tornado. Lol! Yeah, fuck flies. They are so annoying, especially those big biting horse flies. Still better than hornets and wasps though, at least. I actually don't mind the heat, and thankfully there aren't many tornadoes up here in Beaver Land. The winters suck though, harsh and cold. I hate winter. I will give you our Canadian winters, in exchange for summer? Deal?

I dont miss scraping ice off my car, but I can deal with shoveling snow, and wearing extra layers.
Yard work and bugs and humidity and thunderstorms suck though.

What I hate most about summer time... I ruthlessly smashed one of these bastards the other day. Living in a densely-populated urban area during the summer, makes encounters with the enormous American Cockroach (a.k.a. Water Bug) inevitable, once or twice in the season. However, I never see them at any other time of year (thankfully). Honestly, I think its only colloquially called a "water bug", to make people less anxious about it. Sort of like how they call Herpes Simplex 1, " cold soars". The bug I'm taking about is a massive roach; a water bug is different. Also, fuck humidity. My favorite time of year is Autumn, when things cool down. Also, I live close to two public parks, and I really can't stand seeing so many people around my neighborhood. They ruin it, by leaving their trash on the floor. I want to stuff it into their mouths.

Scientists are turning them into cyborgs, that can be controlled with a smartphone. I have to admit, it the process looks pretty monstrous.
Think about what they could do with this in the future. Eventually, they could probably just implant a smaller, more advanced version of the technology. Moreover, one could probably install a camera, or a microphone on them. It would be totally inconspicuous, if used to spy on people. They could even be weaponized by the military.

Here in glorious Europe the heat's not much better. We don't have the insane tornado stuff, though. (temperatures in celsius because that's the scale the civilized world uses) Also, I share your hatred towards bugs because I'm a little sissy and I'm shit-scared of them :/

Mind control for insects... that doesn't sit quite right with me. I mean sure, they have beneficial uses too. But that's assuming they're being used by people with good intentions. Which is definitely not always the case.

Which is definitely not always the case. Probably, but such is the case with all technology. Fireworks led to the creation of firearms. Even if we re-frame from developing stuff like this, somebody, somewhere, will open Pandora's box. Thus, adopting such technology will be necessary to defend from rivals, who will also utilize it.

Imagine in the future, instead of sending soldiers or bombs; we just send massive waves of insects to devour our enemies:

There's a big difference between using cyborg insects as a weapon, and using them to spy on people in the name of "monitoring terrorism". Which seems to be a popular subject amongst our world leaders and government these days.
It's the latter that concerns me, not the former. Either way, I'm not opposed to their development. I agree that it's clearly going to happen eventually, so someone has to be the first to properly develop it. That's fine, I just hope it's put to good use. Because the existence of cyborg insects with camera and microphone recording technology seems like something that would put the general public on guard. If they're used on home soil. You'll be wondering if your conversations are being listened to.

Built-in GPS too even.

Yesterday I went for a long walk. It must have been at least 7 miles. I was soaked with sweat.

I'm visiting Europe right now and compared to the US it seems these guys dont give a shit about air conditioning. Buses, trains, planes, metros and trams are all hot. Everyone is in shorts, sleeveless shirts, and sundresses. Inside every building, the staff all have a glint of sweat on their foreheads and they live off of an oscillating fan and cracked open windows.
It hasn't been too terribly hot here so far, but that shit doesn't fly here in America. Its customary that every building has a nice cool relaxing 68F temperature. Everyone's home either has a built in cooling system or a window unit to cool the place down. We don't take heat lightly here.

A friend of my said the same thing.
