Just a thread to talk about old-school Hong Kong Kung-Fu flicks, although Wuxia and swordsman movies count as well, mainly from 1960's to 90's Hong Kong. You know, Shaw Brothers, Golden Harvest, etc, if anyone here's into that sort of stuff as well.
This is mainly to talk about such movies, mainly lesser know ones, but some Bruce Lee's fine as well, and recommend the ones we find most entertaining or just plain, balls to the wall, weird.
I'll start, of course. The last one I watched was 1976's The Magic Blade (Tien ya ming yue dao), by Yuen Chor.
This one is a swordsman tale, and a pretty entertaining one, too. It's got an insane amount of betrayals and twists, and some interesting set-pieces, such as when our hero, Fu Hung Hsieh, and his buddy find a "village" full of dead folks who are displayed as if they were going about their business when time suddenly stopped in it's tracks. Also, one of the hired killers is called Devil Grandma, which would be one hell of a handle (pun intended)! Anyway, good stuff. Hope to get some recommendations from you, fellow Doomers, as well.

Master of the Flying Guillotine (also called One-Armed Boxer 2) in the house! I think Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, and Samurai Shodown all got stuff from it, including literal audio.
Now if you want to really see Samurai Shodown the movie, see Samurai Reincarnation with Sonny Chiba. They're both based on the same Japanese Legends. Don't bother with the Samurai Shodown anime though. I found the DVD at a farmer's market and it sucks. It's extremely tame and just lame for an anime movie. I really expected something more serious.

i wanna keep an eye on this thread because I'm interested in recommendations in this movie genre. I haven't really explored it much but the ones I've seen that I can't remember the titles of were pretty cool. Even the campy ones.

Those are some good picks Gokuma. I particularly like Master of the Flying Guillotine, as it's more my jam. Also, if you haven't seen One-Armed Boxer (1972), I like that even better. It's just awesome. Plus, part of it's soundtrack is straight up ripped from Shaft, which is hilarious.

I've yet to see the original One-Armed Boxer save for the brief flashbacks in the sequel. I'll have to keep an eye out for it. Here's something even funnier though, a great classic, The Five Deadly Venoms, has the same opening music as Monty Python's Holy Grail! Mortal Kombat also got stuff from that movie. If you see the arcade version of MK1, or a version that preserves the demo videos of the characters, Scorpion ends in an exact stance used by the Scorpion in that movie.
Another interesting classic is the Shaw Brothers + Hammer Horror Collaboration, Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires. Abraham Von Helsing (played by Peter Cushing) gives a lecture at a university in China and proceeds to battle vampires with Chinese allies. It's interesting how they apply the usual lore in a way different setting with Von Helsing explaining that here the symbol of the Buddha works in place of the crucifix.

Five Deadly Venom's awesome. It's one of my all-time favourites. I knew about the Monty Python nonsense, but not about the MK references. Good stuff.
As to Legend of the Seven Golden Vampires, I've yet to watch that, but I'll definitely add it to the hit list now, Gokuma. Thanks for that. On that genre, my favourite, for now, is Mr. Vampire (1985). That's just a straight up classic.

Shogun Assassin is pretty great. I like how they cut up 2 movies in a single 80 minutes movie, so the final product is just non-stop action and carnage. Samurai Reincarnation is also fucking awesome as someone mentioned (I named one of my DBP maps after this movie lol)

thundercunt , those are some great suggestions, even if they're more from the land of the rising sun instead (those infinite Yojimbo and Zatoichi sequels are great, by the way) 40oz , you can ask the rest of the gang here, but I mostly find them on YouTube (note that some of them have fallen into the public domain), or good 'ol PirateBay, as a badass pirate does.

I'll have to keep an eye for or try to get a hold of Mr. Vampire sometime. I saw a BYOB showing of Shogun Assassin at a small theater. It's freaking badass, and inspiration for the three storms in Big Trouble in Little China, which in turn inspired Raiden while David Lo Pan inspired Shang Tsung in Mortal Kombat. I think the original movies are called Lone Wolf And Cub. An absolutely ridiculous old movie I found for $1 at a dollar store is Fantasy Mission Force. Jackie Chan is in it but really young as a minor character. It's like some totally opium-fueled depiction of War World II on a limited budget, and crack. It's yet another movie with kung fu and a Chinese hopping corpse type vampire. It also has Chinese playing people of all different nationalities. So it has Chinese Scotsmen in kilts with bagpipes, Chinese playing African Americans, with battles against the KKK allied with the Nazis, using big old classic cars and jeeps, because they couldn't get any tanks for the movie, and using some European medieval weaponry. Somehow it might manage to be a more accurate portrayal of WWII than is being taught in schools nowadays.
