Thats pretty cool. It's cool that they are addressing the authoritarian power that government lockdowns are exercising more than the efficacy of reducing the spread. I'm all for preventing the virus from spreading but it is cool that we are in the stage of the pandemic where doctors are speaking against using government control to manage this.

the daily mail is a shit rag of a newspaper. If they are publishing anti-government pieces then you can guarantee it's not because they disagree with the Tory consensus, it's because they want Boris out and that snivelling wee toalie Rishi in.

We're on full lock-down again in the Netherlands. All schools, non-essential shops and services have shut down.
Business owners have made huge investments in making their locations corona-proof, and we have a QR-code system in place, and they say most infections happen indoors at people's houses.
So no more cinema's, shops, museums, even indoor sporting is banned. Meanwhile, people are sitting at home and are more likely to group up and hang out at each's other homes. So won't infections become more likely?
Officially, you can't have more than 2 visitors a day, but they also can't and won't prosecute anyone having more people over, except for having really big party's (with hundreds of people).
The vaccins don't protect enough against Omicron, but getting a booster does increase your resistance?
How is anybody supposed to understand and abide this stuff?

It's cool that they are addressing the authoritarian power that government lockdowns are exercising more than the efficacy of reducing the spread. Yeah. Also important to note that most of disasters - personal bankruptcy, forced unemployment, etc. - are not the consequences of pandemic, but rather the consequences of actions on the behalf of the governments and other power-wielding institutions (big corporations are almost on par with the governments basically), that were performed under the pretext of addressing the pandemic. The crisis we are actually facing, the one that is taking very big toll on mental health and our ability to determine our own destiny, is entirely man-made. I presume some here would object that restrictions were justified because they were installed in the name of protecting people lives. But don't get me started on what should be really obvious: politicians *must* never be trusted to actually pursue what they declare to pursue. The only pursuit of politician is a pursuit of power and wealth. To make a successful career, a politician gets used to saying things even directly antithetical to politician's personal beliefs and his own private life. And if you are already in the habit of looking for ulterior motives behind policies, make no exception for ones that are made in the name of addressing the pandemic.
