Sometimes I think I might be using Doombuilder for years and still haven't learned the basics. Like shortcuts that could make my life easier.
There is one basic thing that wondered sometimes, found a solution but is weird. By default when you click right mouse or press insert in things mode, a thing will be inserted but also the properties window will pop up. I used to make with this for years. But when I wanted to add multiple things, I'd click on and select say the barrel, then I will spam the right click followed by escape presses to bring the window down, open window close window, when I want to just clone the barrel 100 times for example.
Anyway, to cut it short, I found in the manual that there is an option to disable this. Of course it means that the first time I right click, I have to right click again on the thing to change to what I want, then I can mindlessly spam the insert button. It's much better, but I wonder is there not a simple shortcut like: Shift+Insert(or right click) will insert object and open properties. Simple insert(or right click) will reinsert the same object without opening properties window? Something as simple like that? Either it was never implemented or I am missing a shortcut here.
I know, basic question, but I was expecting something elementary like that from Doombuilder, not having as default option to always spam you with the thing properties window.

...how long does it take you to do a right click? You seem to be overthinking a complete non-issue. Right click then right click again. Or Insert then right click. That's it.

xeepeepIt's the dialog box popping up every single time, and having to navigate over to it to close it that's bothersome. Although optimus may be overthinking it, why not just copy paste? Something helpful I did recently was bind Snap/unsnap to grid to a key since I like to hop back and forth

So you want to copy/paste?
Then select the thing, ctrl+c, then ctrl+v wherever the mouse cursor is.

Holding right click and dragging the thing a little bit skips the window.

Holding right click and dragging the thing a little bit skips the window. This is what i do. weird UI design, but it works.

I believe you can select a thing and hold down alt, or was it shift? control? one of those, and right click it will copy it and you will be able to quickly place multiple things.
