I saw this one a couple of times on your channel and always thought it looked awesome, but I haven't really given it a try yet. Now that has to change though, as I'll give it a go and try to write some feedback along the way.

I played this a little bit before the new map was added and enjoyed it, think I got to map 2 or 3. Might need to give this updated version a spin and give you some demos some time.

Fryuko matador Sure check it out! Feedback is always welcome, though I've already had about a dozen Youtubers playing this, including a guy who beat the entire WAD at UV-max with fast monsters 40oz thanks man, I appreciate your extensive feedback as one of the first playtesters, very helpful

@pistoolkip I just finished it and had a great time playing it. I always prefered shorter wads like this over megawads. The difficulty most of the time was spot on for my taste, and the whole thing was paired with beautiful environments.
My favourite feature probably is, how gargoyle switches and symbols are always related to secrets. I noticed a couple of similarities with your deathmatch levels or straight-up variations of those environments. I didn't mind that thought and it made me enjoy those parts more, especially map02.
Speaking of which, map02 was my favourite of the whole bunch. Starting the whole level with a berserk was a nice way to change up the usual gameplay loop and the arch-vile that teleported away made me be cautious throughout the map. Although you kinda spoiled it away when you played my dbp40 map 😎 The first fight when you reencounter it killed me a few times, but it was due to the blood pit. Only the blue armour secret with the crushers was somewhat mean.
Overall very solid wad and I can only recommend it! Will it have more maps in the future? As I'd like to make some kind of review out of it for my channel and I'm not sure if I should wait with it.

FryukoThanks man! Map02 is the newest addition and I guess it also shows my improvements as a mapper. I'm glad you enjoyed it! It did start out with the DM map and I worked from there. I am intending to add more maps but I have half a map laying around on which progress is slow, so I have no idea when it will be done. I thibk it will either be 7 maps, or 9 (as a complete episode with a secret level) If you want to review it - go ahead. It's already been uploaded to IDgames (without the latest addition), reviewed by Wadazine, and played by about a dozen people on YouTube, and it certainly doesn't feel like a work in progress.

Started this a week or two ago, just got around to finishing it. Great mapset, I love the consistency in tone and mechanics throughout (ie: Blood always hurts, one texture implies secrets, etc.) Really good layouts with loops and interconnected spaces. Wonderful use of stock textures, your nitpicky alignment is well worth it, every area has a very clean and polished look to it. This feels like pure, classic DOOM, the combat is very Plutonia, and the layouts have a KDITD quality to them. Combat often uses only a few enemies at a time but with configurations that will fuck your shit up, especially with the item scarcity (though the secrets are often abundant and generous).
MAP01- Good short introduction, not much to say. Establishes the atmosphere, type of gameplay, and the mechanics that will reoccur in the ensuing maps. MAP02- Great opening fight in this map. The fight beyond the yellow key door was a little tough for me. I liked the secret fight where you drop down into the basement. MAP03- Pretty good. The final fight is the best part of this level. Progression is a little linear, not a bad thing, but I noticed it when I would die and have to do everything over again. MAP04- Probably had the best combat of the whole WAD, great combat geometry in every room. The red key fight was brutal, probably the hardest fight (Not sure what the deal is with the switch in this room that lowers the hanging corpse). The final archvile placement is annoying though. I was out of rockets and cells and I didn't enjoy having to hang way back at the doorway and snipe with the single barreled shotgun, hoping to hit the archvile but the revenants blocked just about every shot. MAP05- Great final showdown for the WAD. The monsters coming in waves was a cool idea, though up until the cyberdemon wave, the waves did feel a little flaccid. Like, four extra enemies would pop in at a time. I think the early waves could have used more enemies. Not a big deal, but I did take issue with something else in this map. My first couple attempts, I ran out of ammo and couldn't kill the cyberdemons. I had tons of cell ammo but no weapon to use it with. I had to actually open the map up in the editor to find where the plasma gun is. It might have just been dumb luck, but both times I ended up with a mancubus corpse right on top of the plasma gun, preventing me from ever seeing it. I think another plasma gun should have been placed elsewhere in a more conspicuous location for this reason.

This WAD more than anything taught me a ton about mapping and really help me improve my skill while working in a specific style. Not finding the plasma gun here is super bad luck, I guess. It's in a pretty obvious place on its own little platform, but mancubus and caco corpses are notoriously bulky. Thanks for your feedback. The current version has been uploaded to IDgames so I'm not going to be making any small changes until the next big update, which hopefully will have another map.
