DNF, pretty sure I killed all the chaingunners on MAP03 but I couldn't get my reward. In any case walking around in circles looking for one I might have missed got pretty tedious so I quit. I may have broken the map by editing the platforms you have to run over to get to the RL secret to have a 10 second delay (I don't really like those sorts of timed sequences so I figured I'd just cheat) OR since I used Woof! 6.3.0 it could have been an engine bug, you'd have to test that yourself though. I then warped to MAP31 which wasn't really kb-only player (hi) friendly so I stopped there.
Other than that pretty nice! The levels looked nice obviously and I didn't run into any encounters I thought were unfair, although there were certainly some tough moments, esp. in MAP01 with the berserking. I didn't run into any blocking geometry or things (a pet peeve of mine) so thanks for prioritising that over stupid detail. I'd play more like this if you made 'em.

Thanks for playing. There is one chaingunner who is hidden. You need to use a blinking computer wall to open. Hopefully that didn't break in other ports. Will have to test it out in woof.
Yeah map31 just isn't going to be friendly for kb only due to one part which is a timed sequence.

OK found him, map works in Woof the progression is just obscure. If you wanna keep him hidden I'd recommend activating him somehow so the player can at least hear that he's there, tbh it's a bit unfair expecting the player to wallhump until they find the 'switch'.

I really enjoyed this project, thanks for sharing. I don't think I would generally be your target audience as far as skill-level goes. I could only ever beat the first map of Dimensions. This WAD wasn't as difficult as I expected it to be though and it seemed that the first three maps even got progressively easier, not sure if that was the intention. I still had to use saves, so no demos from me unfortunately. I've developed an appreciation for maps with purely stock textures recently, particularly when mappers still find new unique/iconic ways to use them, as you've done here. This WAD definitely has its own look. I loved the optional secret fights, they always add a lot to a map. These maps felt like a good compromise between oldschool and newschool with the classic techbase layouts and modern challenge fights. MAP01I had the hardest time with this map. I had to bail out without killing the cyberdemon because I used up all of my ammo. Used one save point. MAP02This was my favorite map of the set. I found 7/10 secrets, one of them being that obscure blursphere that I stumbled across by a stroke of luck. The secret red skull key fight was pretty tough for me but was probably my favorite part of the map. Used three save points. MAP03Awesome gimmick that gave me a chuckle. Especially loved that there's a message chastising you if you press the switch before finding all chaingunners. Didn't find half of the secrets. I finished with only 140 enemies killed but I spent a long time looking for the final chaingunner (found by pressing the blinking computer texture) and didn't really know where else to look for anything, and didn't want to have to check the editor. Though, when I have the time, I definitely will be giving this a look in the editor to learn from. Used three save points. This window that looks out on the plasma rifle has bleeding midtextures. Attachment DeletedMAP31Took a quick look at this map but didn't really play it since these maps aren't my thing and I figure it requires SR50 which I haven't bothered to learn how to do. I noticed the floor is -20%. Aren't insta-kill floors a feature of MBF21?

dmdr: One thing I really like when mapping is progression which isn't immediately obvious. Just a quirk that I don't want to work out of my mapping. Thanks for confirming it worked correctly in woof though!
lunchlunch: Thanks for playing. Glad you had fun with the set and thanks for letting me know about the midtexture. No worries re map31. I did test it with sr50 so it is very niche. MBF21 does allow for insta-gib sectors but it is something I find jarring personally. There are a few setups I have created which use that effect where it makes more sense to me personally - just need to complete the maps I have in mind which use those setups.
Thanks for yall's kind words as well.

Beautiful usage of the stock textures, very exciting to play, clever little gimmicks, a nice blend of hardcore and easy-going sections; this is a lovely mapping style that can get you far. I played with DSDA-Doom in -complevel 9 and didn't run into any errors. Here's an FDA for the non-secret maps, I beat the three maps. I didn't find the secret exit, I tried to beat the secret map in a separate FDA, but I DNF because it's not FDA material. Attachment Deleted

Thanks for playing. Glad you liked it. Will take a gander at the demos. I think I only used a few of the lines for blocking floor monsters. So if cl9 just disregards that then interesting. Assuming if you run it in cl9 it also ignores the options lump? Curious what that behavior is.
Primarily interested in the umapinfo/options lump. Really cool how we can enable different features of different complevels. Can make a fun mix of settings for sure.

"MBF21!!!!!!!!" Jokes aside I might play this when I'm back on my PC in about a week. I'm not quite sure what MBF21 even is yet.

Thanks for confirming it worked correctly in woof though! I don't really want to crawl up your arse about this but there is a difference between 'progression which isn't immediately obvious' and having to read the mapper's mind, and MAP03 tends strongly towards the latter. Like I said, consider activating him somehow before he gets revealed so the player can at least have some audio cues to aid their search.

It's not that bad. Any gamer should expect at least one chaingunner to be hidden. The computer is bright and blinking. It's perfectly acceptable especially considering this WAD is already esoteric. It just gives the player more time to find secrets.

nah
if you're having an easier time finding secrets than essential progression (I don't really look for secrets and I found five of them, for what it's worth) then there's something wrong

Yo. This sort of progression is stuff I like in maps I make - this is part of the fun of mapping for me. My personal projects are generally stuff that I like making/playing only. Don't care about awards, nothing. If other people happen to like them too then that is a bonus. I think I have played my maps more than anyone else in the community - until recently - and I am fine with this.
however -
I think if I was to make a map for a wad where the goal is to make something widely accepted then I would agree with you and change the switch.

For sure. Just wanted to say where I was with regards to my own mapping.
Didn't read into anything you said in any way and I hope you didn't read into anything I said in any way.
