If "cross board" nominations apply, I nominate Doom 2 In Spain Only.
At the same time, I'd like to "nominate" myself to get my ass in gear and play A;Z and a few of the other sweet-looking DPS's soon. So much unplayed Doom stuff, and so very little spare time ATM... :'(

There is no need for ''experts'' to decide whats ''good''.
Community knows for themselves what is good.

As for the award itself, i think there should be different category awarded on the whole year.
For example:
-Best Total Conversion of the year
-Best gameplay mod of the year
-Best speedmapping mapset of the year
-Best music pack of the year
-Best music/map conbination of the year
-Best map of the year.
-Best megawad of the year (15 or more maps)
-Best Episode of the year (8 to 14 maps)
-Best miniwad of the year (2 to 7 maps)
-Best joke map/mapset of the year
-Best serious joke map/mapset of the year. (examples of serious joke mapsets)
-best slaugther map/mapset of the year

And then other categories like:
-''It could be great but...'' award.
Most promising project that for some reason doesn't delivered as intended.

-Mapper of the year
-Artwork of the year (made for a project)
-best program/code of the year
-most promising newcomer
-most entertaining demo of the year (demo recording for Doom)
-Justin Fisher award for the project that changed Doom soo much that is almost unrecognizable

And all the runners up voted for every category.

Now, The votes should be simple:
Everyone can vote for what they want, but no duplicated votes will be counted.
For example, i can vote for GOTTAGOFAST and Auger;Zenith for best speedrunning mapsets.
I can vote Auger;Zenith for best megawad.
So yeah, you can vote for the same project on different categories.

And instead of having multiple post per voter (and to solve the possibility of someone accidentally duplicating their vote for the same project on the same category), we should totally edit our post whenever we want to add new vote for a project or category.

Nominations should be simply noted with +1 to X project for best X category
That way, when we do the recount of votes at the end of the submitting period, everything will be visible for everyone.
If someone edits the post after the submitting period, it is visible for everyone. So there is almost no way to get fooled here.

If everyone is right with that, or wants to add or say something about what i posted, please do, as its better to reach a consensus than have arbitrary decisions.

Thank you for your votes and for outlining categories! I thought of my own, though unorthodox and I don't really know what to call them:

-Best WAD to meditate in (removing all monsters and noclip around, lost in thought because I do that a lot)
-Past Spotlight Award (to award something cool that was missed out on, or to sprinkle some extra nice words on a very old project that was especially influential that year or just whatever I like at the time, heh)
-Best experimental WAD (a WAD that cares not for "solved formulas" of a "good" Doom WAD and plays with Doom's inherently fun gameplay and executes it well in its own way)
-Pushing The Medium Award (The most controversial WAD, in either content and/or community reception)

Msx2plus actually is Emma Essex, the person beyond the Lap Fox / Halley Labs discographic label halleylabs.com/

Never played Time Tripper too, but i see it got lots of votes on the other doom award out there.
