Since there is a bit of confusion about who can join to work on DBPs, here is my word: everyone. All you need is to make an account here. Upon registration, you are immediately able to access "Mapping Workshop" and "Doomer Boards Project" subforums whenever you are logged in. There is no premoderation and your first post will be available for all to see immediately, including in those logged-in users only subforums. (No restriction about where your first post can be, and you can send PMs without ever posting)
DBP are run like community projects, with a deadline of one month within announcement. Both mappers and testers welcome, as well as those who can contribute artwork such as sprites, intermission screens and also people with EDGE/other ports modding experience etc. that is contributions are not limited to mapping skills.
We don't generally focus on multiplayer but provide a minimum compatibility with coop (4 player starts), however if people who know the howto of different multiplayer-centric ports can help us fixing bugs and making DBP experience enjoyable in every port known to man and still in use for coop, they are very welcome!
p.s. I am not staff so "we" is a bit pretentious, should not be taken seriously. It just was easier to write this way. The thing is, if you are doomer you are cool, if you contribute to DBPs you are blood brother of every other contributor.

Also, the development on DBP happens on the board, there is no Discord behind-the-scenes, no need to run proprietaty software. The forum is usable with javascript disabled and adblockers ( 40oz is also paying a subscription for forum to feature no ads). Some functionality is not working with javascript disabled, i.e. voting in polls, editing profile status that appears under avatar, and registration IIRC etc. these inconveniences are minor and can be tolerated if you happen to be a hardcore free software enthusiast.

yo @@guitardz how did you think the DBPs were organised? Inquiring minds want to know I honestly thought it was a tight knit group of mappers and done behind closed doors. But I had never seen one of the development threads before now (I haven't spent a lot of time on this forum yet.) I've played quite a few DBPs now and always noticed the same handful of mappers which is what led me to this conclusion, glad to see it is, in fact, open to anyone who wants to join. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for the development threads in the future, I would love to try and flex my vanilla LR muscles on some maps for these projects, the only other LR thing I worked on was my map in WMC02, and I quite enjoyed that experience, so doing more of that kind of thing will be very interesting to me
