Let's imagine someone wants to play DBP, but has limited bandwidth/traffic to download (playing doom on smartphone or in some obscure place on Earth, or traffic to download link is throttled for censorship reasons).
The goal of program would be to take a wad, a produce an equivalent wad, with equivalency defined as: 1) wad looks and plays exactly like the original 2) same amount of textures and lumps that are not used as patches; order of lumps is also preserved 3) patches and lumps for them are created/deleted as needed to reduce the wad size. New patches appear between PP_START and PP_END markers (if they were present in input file)
The sources and target(new) wad are assumed to be limit-removing. Any other wads from which patches are used (such as iwads, for example) should also be provided along with the input file to the program, but they must not be modified as the result of its operation.
The reward is respect from fellow doomers, and self-satisfaction. This is not some dire need, just a fun challenge for those who would take it without feeling forced to.

I misunderstood the thread by thinking to create a wad from any other wad already released using the same file sizes but creating new stuff or using free assets that have the same file sizes of the source wad, or going roughly near it.
It could be a interesting challenge, anyway. Or not.

Yes, but does it apply to limit-removing? Cause tutti-frutti effects, for example, don't appear when . And if it does, then the tool could scan maps to see which textures the effect can be applied. Although, given that is much trouble to write this, and zipping seems to achieve very noticeable effect (I looked at how DBPs are compressed), yeah, I would rather turn attention elsewhere.

It's a vanilla bug therefore it could appear in limit removing ports by definition, Boom and compatible ports fix it. I think crispy doom has it.
