1. Pick a music album of your choice. 2. Count how many music tracks are on the album. 3. Make a note of how long each track is in the album 4. Play a Doom wad that has the same number of maps as music tracks on the album 5. Spend the same amount of time playing in the map as the length of the song 6. Upload the demo for others to listen to the album in sync with your recorded demo 7. make it interesting to watch...???

You're trying to say you like DOS better than me, right?
IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOUR MAP NEEDS MORE LIGHTING VARIATION

I don't record demos so I thought this was going to be an amateur MIDI maker challenge at first. I think I could make some beep boops, heh.
I would choose this album though:

So play the map and then dick around in the exit room until the music ends?

That's the boring way yes. For style points youd most likely pick a wad where the length of the song is about the length it takes to play to map. (Most songs are around 4 minutes, so you'd have to be pretty speedy for the most part)
If you have to hang around the map a little, plan to do something interesting to consume time like cause the monsters to infight, use a weaker weapon, or find all the secrets, collect all the items, etc.
