DBP vs (DB)K Competition

What the fuck! We already have done 2 DBPs without those people. Joe's is not the first post-schism one!
False alarm, I believe both projects will go on fine. The critical mass is actually both here and there.

MegaPancakeStrategist, my point is not about competition, but about quoting misguided anonymous post that seems to incite panic. Stay frosty. The DBP's history has only just began. I am actually in process to rehashing monster dehacked and resources concepts (there is resource donation thread for DBPs), it may be a long while before I post but I will eventually post stuff that is going to be useful in future DBPs projects. That is, I intend to go beyond contributing ideas to the resource/idea thread. Also, we need not rely solely on veterans to produce the maps - what keeps DBPs alive is a stream of new mappers and also testers. You can't really milk same person again and again against their will.

And even if you don't have mapping skills, sign up for testing!

"Some people" who get the facts wrong, you mean. Well, changing our approach to making DBPs because some outsiders get the situation wrong is not a sound strategy, compared to pointing out their errors and correcting them.

^This. We're just in another era of DBPs. We've been sort of developing a new cast of regular mappers and I'm sure this will bear fruit. Actually, it already has (most recently, see the Peerdolius map in DBP35) and I'm sure it will continue to in the future. This crisis of the guys in charge of the DBPs leaving isn't even new as it already happened way back when 40oz left and the series got along just fine. I'm glad you're sticking around @vigilantdoomer and I look forward to seeing what you cook up when you end up leading one of these projects in the future. In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing some new faces as project leads. It's the wild west now and there's a lot of opportunity for creativity, imo.

We really do need a new scheduling thread so people know that they can sign up as a project lead and to take some of the load off 40oz (who we've been relying on hard to keep the ship running). I'm glad you're back and hope to see you leading some of these solo as well. You deleted it but I think we can make great use of your sprite-art skills. I liked some of your suggestions and while a competition thread is just going to devolve into talking about drama, I think we should take the opportunity to discuss what we can do better with these.

As far as I'm concerned you've got a pretty strong record as project lead. DBP27 is probably my all-time favorite DBP and DBP33 seemed to be received pretty well.

You should contribute sometime. Also, 40 can correct me if I'm wrong but I'm not sure that the more Dehacked/customized DBPs are necessarily going away, just don't think that's what 40oz wants to do with the ones he leads but other project leads could do DBPs in that vein if they want.

an0n Well it's the only Doom community trashfire in public sight to my knowledge anyway. Best enjoy it while it lasts with however long its been already.

matador Yeah apologies for any unintended drama that may result in this thread. If someone ambitious has a great theme and maybe some dehacked work but only wants to make one map for it then the DBPs are perfect for getting a group of people right on it and it being done in about a month. It could be anyone really as creation happens instantaneously and it could even be you! In 2019 I had the plans for three ambitious DBPs with my art and simple dehacked effects and while those plans have since changed I'll still deliver if I feel like it. Stay tuned, especially if you like Blade Runner and cyberpunk anime and all that sort of thing!
