I'm not a fan of multiplayer Doom.

If we can call zandronum 'skulltag' with a namechange instead of its own thing, I'm pretty sure odamex is the baby, out of the big three, right?

Odamex is like the littlest of the three Doom source ports. The other 2 being Zandronum & ZDaemon. I like Odamex only because it's netcode is a bit better especially when playing on servers halfway around the globe.

I use zandronum begrudgingly. Mostly because I play in cooperative mode and it feels a little bit smoother to me than odemex does. Plus it is what most people have and it's a little smoother to set it up. Odamex feels like real doom to me though, and it would be my source Port of choice if it had more players.

I play zdaemon. For zandronum, good luck finding a game that doesn't use a gigabyte worth of wads, and for odamex... well, good luck finding a game.

You're trying to say you like DOS better than me, right?

I like all three. Zandronum is my usual go-to with the most features. I really love using 3D sector transfers to make true 3D structures and its control is silky smooth. But yeah, the load of stuff you gotta download to play most servers is annoying and mostly likely for net performance to be affected by all the crazy stuff. Odamex is amazingly vanilla for a ZDoom base with options to be more ZDoom and they recently updated the mouse code to be better than vanilla. ZDaemon has a lot of good action going on and is a good middle of the road between the other two. In working on a vanilla compatible DM pack, I'm doing much of my testing in plain old doom2.exe and jumping over to Zand just to see it in nice high res and a hardware mode that's more subdued than GZDoom. That said, I actually don't get around to playing online that often. Spend more of my free time (slowly) making stuff. I like them all enough to do a Sean Connery announcer for each. (but I think some things in my Zand version sound like they could use a redo).
