Download: Old Gold (Boom, Plutonia)Three challenging Plutonia maps made in 2014 or so. The first two were touched up by Archi in some places, I think like half of gameplay on Map02 is his too. To be honest I raged quite a bit while playtesting these today. Not sure if I was a better player or a bigger sadist, but I tried to make the balance more forgiving. Still, I recommend playing carefully and looking for secrets. Enjoy if you can! i.imgur.com/8AJTKEE.pngi.imgur.com/7Sh9Vco.pngi.imgur.com/58lzeuu.png

Played through this, didn't record any demos because 1. I don't use prboom outside of map testing and 2. I don't like making demos. Maps were nice, short, sweet, had great layouts and overall they are very pleasant to play. I wouldn't call them challenging however, I had no trouble beating them all pistol start without dying. There's really nothing bad to say about this wad, it's just 3 really good Plutonia maps and there's never enough of those.

I did play cautiously as recommended, but I had very little trouble. I enjoyed the gameplay. They felt a little quiet. Plutonia has <100 monsters in most maps too, but their maps are much shorter than these. I don't think there were any traps here that had more than five monsters. Cool layouts with some cool over/under action that end up being a lot more dynamic than they appear at first. Pretty fun.
There was a part in MAP03 that was a little frustrating. Two sniping chaingunners and an archvile that I had to make a long stride away from any cover to get within autoaiming distance of. Seems like I needed some help with RNG to get through that without taking unwanted damage. There might have been a better way to do it but I didn't figure it out at the time. I had enough health and ammo for most of the map though.

This was a lot of fun to play through, you managed to make some pretty solid maps. Like others have said, they weren't quite as difficult as I thought they were going to be, but I still managed to die twice, once on Kalachik (Map 01) and another time on Ministry of Hate (Map 03). There was some nasty traps, one that stood out to me was the Revenant trap in Map 02 that closed you in a hall- I'm really surprised that one didn't kill me, because it took me by surprise. Wasn't a fan of that Hell Knight behind the waterfall in the first map, it's really easy for him to get a cheap shot on you if you're not ready for it. I also really liked how open these maps felt, especially the third map. Overall, I think my favorite in the wad was Map 02. Here's some of my own FDAs too for the hell of it: Attachment Deleted

One continuous FDA of all maps : Attachment DeletedSolid mapset here, the overly focused SSG gameplay was a little boring after MAP02 and I would've prefered to have more rockets and barrels.

From your description I was expecting something more hardcore, but it still keeps you on your toes. Nice design and smart monster placement that indeed reminds of Plutonia. MAP02 was my favourite. MAP03 feels a bit empty, due to the rather big scale of the places but I must say that it played well to add atmosphere. At the RK I got stuck into one of the pits nearby, you can avoid the trigger to raise sectors 41 and 44.
