I'm finding it surprisingly difficult to find a good one with no ads, no crazy colors, and a wide selection of artists. Any help appreciated!

This probably isn't helpful since it only applies to one genre, but for metal I usually go to Metal Archives. Find the band you are looking for, click on the appropriate release, and if lyrics are available they will appear as hyperlinks beside the songs.

genius.com easily, the site is on the heavier side and doesn't work too well on my phone for instance (get ublock origin!), but the database is very solid (the site is rap/hip hop focused, but you'll find more than enough stuff for other genres there) and you can edit the lyrics yourself.

I usually go to songmeanings.com I don't remember why, but I do like to see the little discussions at the bottom about... well.. the song meaning Youtube's comment section. Hahahahaha!!!
