hello I played Doom all the time when I was a kid. I recently got back into it a few months ago when I found out all these cool mods that change the guns and monsters, and then all the custom maps you can play with them. I play doom with brutality 3.0 pretty much totally, i just love the power and the intensity of the guns. I don't think i could ever go back. It's still doom right? Does that make me a poser? Don't ask me about my wallet chain > also: I found this site after trying out some of the DBPs the first one i played was DBP08 mindblood genesis, i really like the weird spooky trippy take on Doom, its fuckin killer! www.moddb.com/games/doom-ii/addons/dbp08-mindblood-genesis

Yes, you bring shame to the doom community. True hardcore Doom fans are only allowed to play vanilla with DOSBOX or chocolate doom

It's cool to play Doom how you want to play it. It's cool how gameplay mods have increased the reach and longevity of Doom.
As a level designer, it's not easy to keep tabs on all the different gameplay mods that are out there. I've seen many of them artificially inflate or water down the difficulty. I've also seen them modify textures and stuff too, changing up the maps. So if you find yourself getting frustrated with a map, or that a map is stupidly easy, or looks weird for some reason, you'll probably have to play it with unmodded vanilla doom to get the 'intended' experience.

My last return to Doom (I forgot which year it was) began with me playing it with Brutal Doom exclusively for a few months, before gradually switching away to vanilla because: 1) there were mods incompatible with it which I also was interested in playing 2) I am used to vanilla balance and mainly enjoyed Brutal Doom for gore and aesthetics
Before that, one of my returns was, to the contrary, playing with Chocolate Doom exclusively and not acknowledging any limit removing ports or wads.
Still perhaps played Brutal Doom more than any other specific mod/wad. I also tried other mods, and also actually enjoy Gzdoom wads with custom stuff. And my first exposion to Doom was in my childhood, where vanilla was all that existed at the time (no Boom or anything), in fact, never heard of Boom before 2010s or late 2000s.
So no, you are not a poser.
