Interesting! This is the first I'm hearing of this so I'm playing it with fresh eyes. I've never used EDGE before but your mod worked right out of the box without me having to do any configurations so that's cool. This seems like a TC with freedoom resources included for padding, so I'm judging this thing like its a standalone game by not giving you any points for anything Doom-related inside.
- The first level being a flying level is pretty weird. There's boundaries for where I can and can't go but I can't see them, so I just stop in midair while trying to escape enemy attacks
- Having no prior knowledge of what the story is based on I can't tell who the enemies are and who my allies are. All animate objects in this mod are gray.
- Homing missiles are being fired at me, but I can't see any walls and it doesn't look like theres anything I can get them to collide with. I'm not entirely sure how I got through this.
- I died once on the first level, but when I beat it the second time, enemies spawned in and my plane spun out and crashed as per of the story, so it seemed silly that the first way I died was the
wrong way even though the outcomes were largely the same.
- There's a lot of dialogue that takes place during "hot starts" that I couldn't pay attention to, so I missed out on a lot of what's going on I think.
- Some of the enemies have so much HP I don't even know if my shots are doing any damage at all
- My HUD says I have rockets but I don't know how to use them.
- Cool events like "laser beams rain down from the sky" are just explained away in a text interlude instead of shown in game. I felt kinda cheated having to read about something cool instead of seeing it in action.
- After I found the girl, the alien guy seemed to freeze my aiming, I had to strafe him into my sights to kill him. It seemed kinda glitchy, was that intended?
- Ok, It seems weird that the training takes place after I've already been dumped into combat in two/three levels already.
- Why do the non-moving destroids explode after dying but the moving ones dont? I lost a lot of health that I didn't expect to on a training level
- Oooooh press G for Guardian Mode! That would have been nice to know earlier!
- The in-game compass, and speedometer (thrust) are pretty cool. I like the idea of the corner automap in theory, but most of the maps were pretty tough to navigate (shown in your screenshot) and the automap didn't really help.
