Demo of me dying dumb deaths and completing MAP01 and MAP02. Some quick reviews for quick maps! MAP01: I Died; It Didn't Take by Phobus
A spooky claustrophobic catacombs network, perfect for theme set up and angry boxing! Nice use of dark colored brick textures, and i love the induvisual set pieces (the bookcase area looks mysterious). As for gameplay, standard fun berserk play, caught me off guard with the cyb. Neat little intro. MAP02: Greenpeace by bigolbillyBig Ol Billy sets up a unique green dreamscape. Soothing and magical music, the slightly off the wall sector objects and structures: very different from what i typically see in a DBP map. Short and sweet gameplay consisting of several simple but memorable set-pieces. Gotta say this was refreshing. Great first DBP map Big Ol Billy!

Finally got to play MegaPancakeStrategist' map in the final release, what a gem! So many fun touches, from the barrels to the multi-nonlinearity to lol-worthy stuff like the revenant in the bathtub. Also kinda different that the last, longest, and hardest real map seems to have the highest percentage of low-tier enemies, while most of the earlier, shorter, and easier maps have low-to-moderate threat cyb's and masterminds.

I dunno Billy, that Cyb of Phobus’ and yours fucked me up pretty good! My masterminds are kind of useless but funny and provide just the right amount of distraction to transform my arena from what could be considered slaughter into something casual and fun cheesy. Just goes to show it’s all about the way you use them and place them. A lone zombie man in the right conditions can be a threat and I love fairly dying to one. Aquila Chrysaetos of Doomworld recorded fdas of each map. Thanks Aquila you’re a good brother!

I have a continous fda up to when I died in supercupcakes map. The first map was like a trick-n-traps style map so it took a few tries before I "took". Then it was smooth sailing until was subjected to supercuprapetactics. www.dropbox.com/s/0bun6opcj2ij0ag/noisy_DBP_05_continuous.zip?dl=1General Commets: Ho-leeee-shiiiiiit. The quality here was insanely high. All but one of the maps so far were exploding with charm, especially Greenpeace, which has the best implementation of SP_CUNT that i've seen so far in DBP's. The only "weak" map was glen's (sorry glen, you've seen the other maps so i'm sure you understand). I'm gonna have to pick this up again from Map06. While supercupcake's maps are good, they are also 300 monsters long and they suck the soul out of me after dieing deep into the map. I wonder if i'd like them better if they were like two-thirds as long as they are now. I like their intensity but they are long. This might be my favorite DBP so far. Good job. edit: i think i noticed some damaging floor bugs in map02, might be worth a comb over but only if you are doing bugfixes.

No probs noisy, the maps in this one are absolute beasts! It’s an honour just to have my name up alongside such mapping talent. Thanks for the demo yo and bring something for this month’s cheesy texturey party!

www.dropbox.com/s/ibfpqaogw4hj392/noisy_DBP_05pt2.zip?dl=1alright, finished it off. i failed at map06 so i went onward to 07, but double-backed on cupcakes map too at the end to finish it in peak-coffee mode*. I couldn't find the final soul sphere secret, and before i could i started hearing a portmidi player bug that makes the "chug chug chug..." sound which means the game is about to crash, so I raced to the exit. I exitted but the last like 10 seconds were chopped but there it is. Yah, good set. edit: we'll see glenhinzo, the stars have to align in order for me to be in a mapping mood, and even then i might only give it 1.5 hours until i'm bored or burn out. *edit2: "Coffee Curse"

Here's my continuous FDA of the whole mappack, it has a long pause after I died a shitty death in MAP03 because of dinner : uploads.doomshack.org/joeilya-dbp5FDA.lmpMAP01 : It's fun when you take a good path for the bigger weapons first, but on my first time I went straight to the backpack trap and had to grind with my fist through everything in that little library, that cyberdemon fight took some deaths to figure out a correct tactic, which I didn't like because it's the end of the map and I don't want to restart all the way back just because of this grounded teleportation trap crap. MAP02 : Too contrasted against the lament other map, but whatever, best map in the pack IMO, that cyber fight was surprisingly fun and very dangerous at the same time, which I'm impressed by how it was handled so properly. I feel like the bloody crushers should be activated earlier, because I didn't suspect a thing and just ran up those motherfuckers and got sliced hard. MAP03 : Another great map, heavily reminded me of the first three Community Chests with the appearance and the way monsters are placed and revealed, it's quite nostalgic. Unfortunately I got stuck in a corner and got cum on by an arachnotron and I feel like that megaarmor secret is too randomly placed. MAP04 : The first half of the map is too grindy, it would be better off if those arch-viles were gone and the player would be given a few BFG shots or something. The last two "secrets" were laughably badly "hidden", I mean, WHAT WAS BEING THOUGHT OF? The last half of the map was much more fun, although I feel like those masterminds were unnecessary and only made the arena easier because how they would obliterate everything for you and those arch-viles at the end felt like lame filler. This whole map just felt like one big obligation. MAP05 : That shootable switch wasn't obvious enough for me to see, so it took me a few times to come back and try that switch to understand what it actually did. The rest of the map is very interesting, I really like the semi-realism, those marble blocking blocks and the fun secret and enemy placements. MAP06 : It definitely took me some tries to figure out the best path for me to take and damn was it nicely tense and allowed for lots of explosions, whether they were the player's rockets or the barrels, so it was a more welcome pace than your Xenomorph Base, it never felt redundant for me to restart the map, except for the starting room, perhaps in some of your future maps you could include several starting rooms the player can choose from, because the rest of the map always felt different than the start in this map. MAP07 : Very fun and short semi-boss map, too much health though, this is the last map, so it felt weird having few mega items laying around like it's the IOS battle. I'm not sure why only a few linedefs of the boss scroll instead of the whole body. I had a hard time figuring out what to do after killing all the monsters until I realised the way to kill the boss is like killing the IOS with those stairs I thought were decoration or something at first.

Thanks for the demos joe! Speaking of those badly hidden secrets, quite a few failed to find them so I guess they did their job heh.

You could've joined the sectors of the last two secrets together at least, since they are accessed both at once.

Not necessarily joe, some may not run over in time after the lift raises and then they get caught up in the crossfire and forget. Not everyone is a Doom Star like yourself joe, gotta consider everyone’s differing abilities.

Thank you for the feedback Joe! I know you what mean about the start since it's the same unchanging process each time so I'll definitely take note of that and I also think that having multiple start rooms to choose from is a fun idea!

Huh? I just lowered that lift to try get back out after being done there and saw them both at once. I know, it’s pretty simple right? Yet I saw two demos where the player didn’t even try to push the use button against that lift once! There’s even one in this thread done by Aquila.

A video of a Coffin Curse playthrough with some ridiculous over the top gameplay mods. Highly amusing:

Thanks a lot for these maps, guys! Map 3 and 5 were the highlights for me. 40oz, you probably know how I appreciate that lovely Ashwall and waterfall combo . Memfis and billy, it's really fascinating how the map revealed more and more of itself, nicely done! However, after playing a coop round, we found some issues. 40oz, take a look at sector tag 7. It should be possible to lower the barrier from The outside, also. If one of the players dies inside before hitting the switch, the map will not be finishable, :'( - what a waste of a good map. Lots of good advices here to keep in mind: www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/102721-multiplayer-cooperative-mode-pet-peeves/

Looking back on my map for this project I don't like how cramped and all it is now. Hard to play like I just want to casually kick the door down and shoot everything in it. I know that wasn't my intention when making it but it's not very replayable for the I of today right now.
EDIT: wtf am I saying
