Dwango 5 maps transferred into single player maps, so far only 13 maps are finished out of 26, they don't and won't have names, they have fast and smooth gameplay, I've made sure the player can run around most of the time, have fun and kill fast with only occasional chokeholds and be satisfied generally, even if he doesn't find any secrets or doesn't save midgame, which is how I playtested the maps. I'm Too Young To Die - For newcomers, enemy count is reduced, increased ammo and health (basically HNTR's and HMP's benefits combined) Hey, Not Too Rough - For people fairly new to the game, the enemy count is reduced Hurt Me Plenty - For players with quite a bit more experience but not enough fidelity, increased health and ammo Ultra Violence - For Doom regulars Nightmare! - For gods who think the game is too easy Guest mappers are welcome if they're actually going make a finished map for this. The wad works in vanilla, and you should use -complevel 2 if you're going to record any demos in PrBoom+ for this, remember to shorten the wad name to 8 characters or less to be able to play this with the original DOOM2.EXE. (The final version will have 8 characters) The final product will have three episodes, with each representing a time of day, first episode is day, second episode is night and the third episode is the morning epilogue. There's custom music, sounds and textures entirely from the Dwango series, so this wad is pretty goofy sounding, but with a melancholy feeling provided sometimes by the visuals and/or the music. There's multiplayer support and enemies, it is however recommended to play on Hurt Me Plenty if you're going to play this mapset on multiplayer, as there's extra HP and ammo for the extra multiplayer enemies. i.imgur.com/Bhf0JRSl.png i.imgur.com/FDxDh3Pl.pngi.imgur.com/k8JQ4pal.png i.imgur.com/eeznSKkl.pngLink : www.doomshack.org/uploads/dwango5sph_v2.wad

I wouldn't call it dwango9 since that name is already taken. I mean, it's a sucky wad even for Dwango, but it does exist so having the same name will probably confuse getwad/wadseeker/any interested doomers

Interesting wad. I recorded FDAs for the first seven maps. Some comments: 01 - hmm, a bit plain. The initial confusion with trying to find the shotgun is exciting, but nothing memorable happens after you obtain it. Maybe some barrels here and there would make it more dynamic. Also consider replacing some imps with zombies (hitscanners are arguably more powerful in this map). 02 - a lot more interesting already. The cyberdemon isn't that dangerous, but he definitely puts some pressure on you. In particular, figuring out the exit was nicely stressful. 03 - probably my least favorite, it's just way too brown. Literally nothing stands out. Well, I guess the original was like that too. The action is okay, maybe a little bit too easy. 04 - ok, the visuals are really depressing (literally a single color throughout the whole level), but I admit the final trap was a very nice surprise. It took a lot of effort to survive in there. 05 - 2nd favorite so far, it's a very dynamic city level with truly evil arch-vile placement. You always have to look for ammo, awakening new monsters in the process and making the situation more and more chaotic. I think many slaughter fans will enjoy this one, it has a sort of similar vibe with constant pressure. 06 - awesome, definitely my favorite out of the first 7 maps. Again very chaotic and exciting, probably even more so than most maps from Swift Death. 07 - it was nice to play a more relaxing level after two highly challenging ones. The gameplay felt a little bland but it was interesting to see your edits of the classic boss fights. I thought I got stuck in the e1m8 area and quit, but now I see that there is an easy way out. I can't believe I didn't notice it in the game. Perhaps I was getting tired.

Thanks for this great feedback, I'll definitely use most of it, I'm just on the edge on the difficulty, you say it's a bit too easy and glen says it's all impossible nuts, I'll wait for more opinions and feedback on this aspect.

So what if you died a few times? That doesn't mean it's poorly balanced, the maps are meant to challenge you, memfis beat the maps, barely died and I didn't see him grinding, encounters took him less than 30 seconds to beat except for the few arena battles, and neither did you grind in your demos, I'm not even sure you know what you're talking about, having more health and ammo isn't going to make these maps any better, just easier to beat, that would be something I'd do for lower difficulties, and guess what, there's an alternative to your trouble, it's just what I was talking about; lower difficulties, but instead of having more health and ammo, it just has slightly less enemies, but you're still having problems enjoying my set of maps despite the fact that: Less enemies = More ammo and health to dispose (which is what you want, right?), so what's wrong again, is it still too hard? You never told me, you just kept on giving excuses to hate, like in that video above and talk shit about me behind my back on Discord, you also say a bunch of vague crap I can't understand, like; "add powerups in lower difficulties", what would that achieve? You want me to smother you with soulspheres, megaspheres, invulnerabilities and megaarmors and add radiation suits, blur spheres, computer maps, light goggles for no reason like in some shitty dwango map or something? "Sorry I ain't feeling it", what is that supposed to mean? That's not helping me make the maps better, which is what you want, right? RIGHT?

lol dude, boycotting me as revenge? And revenge for what? For trying to understand what you want and being angry that you only tell me vague nonconstructive nonsense and laughing in my face by "sarcastically streaming my maps" and then telling people that I completely stole the maps and dumped crap in them without changing or extending anything when you haven't even seen Dwango5 yourself? You're being malicious, ignorant, impulsive and stubborn at this point for no reason but to make it look like you're strong, especially with "kisses and hugs" at the end of every post as if you're a forgiving person, when your first sentence clearly shows the complete opposite, so not only that, but now you're also a hypocrite or might be bipolar, I'm not sure what's gotten into you recently or if you just absolutely DESPISE anybody who makes maps above your skill of playing who questions your ordeals with their levels. You can keep on telling yourself that the maps are lazy garbage with nothing to them, it won't be any truer but in your head : MAP11 Comparisons i.imgur.com/j2dyb8bl.png i.imgur.com/jG8S0cJl.png

I'll rename this to Dwango5sp (DWANGO 5 Single Player), for HMP I'll put more health and ammo but keep the UV enemy placement, for the lower difficulties I'll add HMP's enemy placement.
Unfortunately I'll only be able to provide a new fixed link tomorrow, unless it fixes itself, I think Doomkid purposefully removed it or something though.

Newsworthy bump, there's a new version of the demo half on the OP and here : www.doomshack.org/uploads/dwango5sph_v2.wadI've made sure in this version that the maps are fun and not simply barely beatable. There are now actually proper difficulty settings. UV has a bit more ammo and health. All automaps are cleaned up for easy navigation. CO-OP and Deathmatch support. Various fixes, like that MAP12 red door exploit. Various tune-ups, like the lack of colour on MAP03 and MAP04. There are still a couple of outdated DWANGO9 graphics that I'll be fixing up in the finished product.

The MIDI on map02 is badly glitched and out of tune

All the midis in this mapset sound fine to me even on DOOM2.EXE with Adlib or SoundBlaster. What are you using?

just regular midi playback in Win7, i tested it in Zdaemon and Zand. It sounds like what happens who you convert something from MIDI to MUS then back to MIDI, did you do that by chance? Either way you should just use the raw MUS files found in Dwango5 if you're looking for authenticity, if the playback glitch happened on my PC no doubt it will happen on others as well.

I don't hear any glitches or mistunes, I listened to half of the MIDI on each midi device that's available on Zan and Zdaemon (midi mapper, fmod, OPL, Microsoft Wavetable) I only picked the midi of the song from midimelody because of the now-broken drums of the DWANGO version.
It might be a problem on your end, is your computer too dusty or something?

lol its definitely not a problem on my end, ill record the earrape just for you Joe. The broken drums version is honestly preferable to this out of tune mangled version: I even made that freakin' improved version, why the heck don't you use that? Makes the guitars a little less whiny, adds the "bow down before the one you serve" vocal melody, fixes the drums and makes them power drums. I could change them back to normal drums if you really want it to sound similar to the Dwango5 version, anything is better than the stupid "no drums" or "out of tune" crap. If Microsoft hadn't gimped MIDI playback for Vista and above the original Dwango5 version would still sound perfect

I didn't use your version simply because I wasn't aware of it when compiling fixed midi versions of DWANGO tracks at the time, and selected that MIDI without seeing the problem, I still don't really notice the mistunes or the offbeats that much, but I'll pick your fixed version instead, in the next version anyways, as it does overall sound better than the DWANGO track or the track I've picked.

Cool man, that’s good. It’s used on map02 of dwango50.wad, that’s the easiest place to nab it.
