I'm not sure what you're trying to accomplish. Wasn't the objective of this forum to have an alternative place to talk about politics and current events without the intervention of doomworld moderation? I like doomer.boards.net better than dumbworld but i don't think you'll find a name better than that. I understand you want this to be a forum about all games but what's stopping you or anyone from talking about all games anyway? You don't have to change the whole format of everything and decorate the whole thing in random video game sprites. People will talk about what they want to talk about whether you shape the forum around it or not. If anything you're more likely to drive people away. The idea of this forum filling up with random gamer nerds who dont care about Doom is kinda repulsive to me and would make me sorry i registered here. Just let it be. Yes this forum was to be an alternative to DW due to the ongoing nonsense from EE. But this site isn't just for posting political EE threads. I'm noticing that most people here want this site to remain as doomed.boards so I think we'll leave it as that. @kontra, perhaps we should do away with the non-Doom thread icons. Maybe bring back the old banner and blood texture gif in the background. |

I actually kinda like the darker, non-animated background. It's really just the titties. Makes it less work safe, too.

I actually kinda like the darker, non-animated background. It's really just the titties. Makes it less work safe, too.  Maybe we can replace the titties with a jumping Doomguy gif sprite for each board for new threads. |

I actually kinda like the darker, non-animated background. It's really just the titties. Makes it less work safe, too. That's color was a bit easier on the eyes. Perhaps the dark blue tech wall would be good. Nevertheless, the blood falls is cool too. The red theme helps to distinguish this place from Dw's blue. Edit: if anything I can still rotate doom assets to keep this place lively. What if I threw commander keen, Hexen and heretic assests in the mix, but kept it predominantly doom? Edit 2: I want to replace the generic yellow face emojis with Id related content too. But also, what about some famous custom content for the emojis as well? |

When i select no avatar in the edit profile it automatically puts the doomguy face there. I don't know how to not have an image there under my name.

Also if it matters I think actual graphics would look way better than sprite rips and stuff. I don't know what the little guns or doom marine sprites below each of our names mean. And maybe little graphics of like padlocks for locked threads and post-it notes for sticky threads and stuff instead of the doom monsters would make more sense. I can make this kind of stuff pretty easily but I'd need confirmation that you think it's a good idea. I don't wanna trample all over everything you've been working on.

I'd like the regular smiley to come back, and have this  abomination coming when you type "> )" or something, usually I use emoticons to lighten up conversations, not really to show what an intense motherfucker I am. ;p |

BTW another funny thing about those small Doom sprites next to thread names is that not all of the are listed in the Legen at the bottom of the page.
What the hell does the Arachnotron next to the "Rules" thread in the Creative Works subforum mean?
Anyway, the sprites idea is cute IMO. Though, some of the current ones don't really make sense. Why is the crushed corpse the symbol of locked threads when you have 6 (or was it 12?) key sprites?

Thanks but, I like the way it is currently. I consider it an on going art project of mine. Edit: as time goes on, I want to make changes. I created this thread, to seek feedback, and help guide its direction. As for the sprite rips, since its Doom, I want it to look authentic to the game. But I would be willing to make edits, like I did to the smilely face. We even have a female user created sprite for the female doom marine. I would be down to use some stuff created by other users. If you and others want to some submit stuff, that would be welcome. I would even replace some sprite rips with well known custom content. |

Kontra, just a thought: For the banner, do you think it would look better if Doomer Boards didn't have the Doom 2 Poster image, but instead had the letters filled in with a white color like from the Doom 2016 title? I think it would look good with the black in the background in my opinion.  |

I really like the Doom2 image though. My only issue with it is that the cyberdemon is cut off by the torso. It would be better if it showed more of his head. The Doomguy on the "Boards" side of the title looks really good though. |
