I'm hooked on this hilarious sitcom called The Goldbergs. The show takes place in Jenkintown which is nearby my hometown. Theres a lot of local references which adds to the charm. The show is based on the producers crazy chaotic family and includes snippets of his actual home movies that the scenes and characters are based on. It may be one of the funniest shows I've ever watched. I'm probably gonna crush through all 5 seasons in a heartbeat.
I watched a little bit of The Handmaids Tale but I didn't get very far into it before I got mentally exhausted. Its good but I'm getting kind of exhausted from the whole "straight white men are evil" motif. Look, i get it, theres been a lot of shitty white men who are responsible for some of the worst shit in this world, I know... I'm just becoming ill of being reminded of it all the time. Its really depressing.
What are you watching?

The Handmaid's Tale. It can be quite gruelling at times with it's bleakness and lack of hope, but that stuff usually happens around episodes 4-6 in the seasons and the tables appear to turn for the protagonist in optimistic ways after that. The first season is based on the 1985 book of the same name, so the basic ideas of the plot, while not current, does astoundingly draw similarities to contemporary issues. In season two I assume they have free reign to create as there was no more book to draw from. Don't get blinded by the "straight white men are evil" appearance 40, there are some blacks amongst the monsters of Gilead. Nick is not one of those straight white men are evil dudes either. In season two you can see more of the world outside of Gilead, such as Canada and the knowledge that there is still an American presence operating somewhere. The motif for me would be Christian Extremist Idealists Who Want To Control Their Women Are Evil, there's still plenty of good white dudes outside of Gilead itself, and even inside though covertly.

I don't watch TV at all, because 1) there's the Internet; 2) what they show on TV is nearly always boring: they either show some "funny" sitcoms / conspiracy programmes for idiots, or they air some popular films that I've already seen several times; 3) I hate watching ads after every 15 minutes of film/series.

I second all of this.

Opening a non-anime tv thread in the "anime-board" when the off-topic section exists... Should I be inclined to suppose that thou posses some mental disabilities?

Normally I’m all for derailing/evolving, but this time you kids need to fuck off back to your bedroom and continue watching your little cartoons. The adults are talking.

I don't watch live action shows often, but one series I have immense respect for is The Twilight Zone (the original). I think it's stunning that a show like that can even exist, I mean it's just so creative, varied, and thought provoking. It was one of the first things I watched in English because only a few episodes had a Russian translation and I absolutely had to see more. So for me it was not only a highly influential collection of sci-fi stories but also a great English teacher.

Hahaha... I don’t really pay attention to the Board sections myself and generally use the recent threads link which is why you’ll see me popping up everywhere. It can be tricky to find certain threads later on though.

Really not a big fan of TV but I looooove "Community" (yes it's present tense). Yeah, it's a comedy/sit-com show with cheesy humor but oh boy was it very creative and fun while it ran. The writer(s) are well met with TV Tropes and had often used them as inspiration, which, is kinda cool concept. Either way, yeah. That.
*tries really hard not to start re-watching it for the 5th time*

Don't get blinded by the "straight white men are evil" appearance 40, there are some blacks amongst the monsters of Gilead. Yeah, because the enemies are men at the end Women did this. I think sometimes. There was never in history a meninism movement. Men never thought "the source of all my problems are women". I mean,. you have people who complain like this. But never a global established movement like feminism. So in the whole human history, feminism naturally evolved and never meninism. Men where doing their own thing, even if several times they struggled, it's not like they were above living great. Most men where struggling to survive and help their women, send to wars, died in their job to provide for their women and children. There was never a "women are the source of my problem" sentiment that rose in a global recognized activism with funding, like it happened on the other side. Women created the narrative that divide us both, not men. And if they can't use "racism" to blame men, the will pity all men against each other for women. I feel closer to my felow black, asian or gay man, than to some of these women with their neurotic narratives.
