I can talk about Doom for hours. I love getting into level design philosophy and discussing map and mod ideas in detail. I like talking about game design concepts and the foreseeable future of Doom mapping and it's surrounding community. Many new people have been attracted to the Doom community for the last couple years but it still seems really quiet after tuning out all the noise. Seems like not a lot of people come here to talk about Doom. What is it about Doom that is interesting to you? What exactly makes you interested in coming here? What kind of stuff do you personally wish for in an alternate Doom community?
More maps? More videos? More nerdy bickering? More Doom-related news? More wad reviews? Perhaps you want less of something that's already here?
I would like more people to be as interested in mapping and playing doom as I am but I'm not sure how to make it more fun. The community is already here. It's my personal opinion that I'd like to see more self-expression here in the form of creating things, whether its in the form of art, or good writing, music, or mapping. I think people always have a lot more to say than they choose to reveal -- sometimes they just need to be presented with the right question or topic to say it in. I'm not always sure what that is. I think the people on the internet used to be ok with being a little more vulnerable that way but I'm not sure if I'm misremembering things.
Anyway, My intentions are to make Doomer Boards the best that it can be and make Doom as fun as humanly possible. If anyone feels any kind of longing desires or wants out of this Doom forum that they're not getting, I'd be really interested in hearing their thoughts on what the status of this place is and if they think it needs some improvement.

I think what I'm interested in seeing the most is a detailed study of the history of mapping. How various styles and techniques emerged, how the development of source ports and editors allowed new things, how the dominant mapping philosophy kept changing. That would be a very ambitious project though.
In general I would like to see more retrospectives, retro-reviews, discussions about the deathmatch scene in mid-00's, stuff like that. I kinda hate the idea of "hot topics" and I find it very boring when people mainly discuss things that are new. It's like they don't have their own interests and instead simply talk about what everyone else is already talking. Where is their personality?

The only reason I'm here is because I'm banned on Doomworld. The only thing I expect from you is to not get butthurt over every single fucking thing like those pussies over there.
Also more maps.
I hate long, overcomplicated, philosophical rambling about useless shit but if that's your thing then go ahead.

For as long as I can remember, I've always had problems with moderators who abuse their powers, expecting undeserved respect and punishing those who refuse to deliver. It's disgusting to me. You won't have to worry about any of that here. I'll strip moderators of their privileges before I start banning members who don't like me.

If you condensed your "nerdy bickering" and philosophical crap into videos I'd listen to them in the background whilst I do shit.
I'm generally occupied with my failing life to do much stuff here or anywhere, it'd be nice to replace my music with your Doom babble.

Not sure I understand the question, are you asking why we're on this site or why we're in the community in general?
Personally for the latter, it seems more out of habit than anything. There's nothing being made that appeals to me, and nothing I make is of interest. I just experiment now. Maybe I'll just have it all put up on archive.org when I die, that should be a fun story.
On the other hand, maybe if I can infect the world with enough of my creations there will be others more like me.
I'm here because people are interesting, even if it's sometimes morbidly so. I especially like how the people on here tend to discuss things more like the humans I see outside and not the weird internet creatures you see everywhere.

More of everything! More Doom anime gals, more mods that also come with their own maps like Zen Dynamics, maybe a better way to test maps with some peer review, tips on how to always have a generally interesting layout maybe even with just a simple rectangle to start with, and discovering more cool 90s WADs. More cool MIDIs I've never heard before.
Didn't know what to post earlier but I just had this right now so uh here you are.
OH! More unique and unconventional architecture and map design. I want more weird cool surreal stuff. So long as they aren't maps whose only colors are like 1 or 3 lol (every texture is blue... or purple... or yellow... or red... ya know).
I've always wanted to make an open world map. In fact I've experimented with making a map like that already but in the future I want to make two ones much larger with tons of nature stuff. A community project that's just a large wacky world with maybe some country or continent separation would be rad with tons of opportunities to look over a lot of the world from above. I don't know if it'll work but I like it the idea.

I had been playing Hideous Destructor again, and I am loving it. It was just the thing I needed.
Why am I saying this?
Well, Hideous Destructor is one of those mods that prove Doom is a good engine to make shit with that isn't neccesarily the same formula, it doesn't abide to any norms the Doom community set. Its slow-paced, its lethal, and sadistic. Now, zeddites are dangerous as fuck, not to mention other monsters. Short in short, reality has poured in Doom, and I like it.
Ehh, bottom line, more unconventional stuff could always spice up my Doom experience. Just like with girls and boys, I don't feel attraction to the classic gameplay found across many megawads today. But, if someone dared to implement a new weapon, or reinvent a weapon, reinvent a mechanic, or anything that has them fiddling with Doom itself, I am all ears and willing to follow. Still, many gameplay mods follow the Doom formula, and I don't mind them doing so... unless the mods are just reskins of stock weapons. In that case, pass.
I am always for some new enemies as well. But, seeing lvl 29 imps or 7th circle hell barons and basically every Doom monster just upscaled gets a bit tiring. They are still the same monsters, only they had somewhat grown to be even more annoying. However, lets say, some parasitic headcrab-alike monsters, which latch onto you and don't let go, or stationary turrets that pop out of the floor or the walls or the ceiling and spread the Word of Lead, or some ghost-like demons which pop in and out of the world to attack you, and I am all for some monster hunting.
I realized what really makes Doom interesting is whenever someone dares to play around with Doom itself. I don't care about number crunching, map styles (unless they are realistic urban maps), any of that stuff, gimme something new to screw around with and you can hold me on a leash like a pupper. If a newbie professes a wish to implement a short-range flamethrower into Doom, I say "go for it!", and eagerly await news about their project. But when some ancient lvl 99 mapper starts another megawad project I just groan in the language of boredom.
Make of this as you wish.

Honestly, what would make me more interested in Doom is a shift in the predominantly publicised mapping and modding paradigms. Less of a focus on professionalism, high level difficulty and big group projects; more of an experimental, individualised push in different directions. Or just turn back the clock about 18 years and let me live through the 2000-2010 Doom scene in a more involved fashion.
