Despite my principle of not buying or playing any game that isn't finished, I actually bought Ion Maiden yesterday night. Mostly because of the demo campaign. I have only played it a little, but so far I think that it's great. Much of it is similar to DooM and the other clones of the day (deliberate, of course), and if I were to compare it to to a DooM WAD, I'd say it plays pretty much like one filled with former humans, which I don't mind. The guns are similar as well; You have a pistol (a triple barreled revolver in this case), machine gun, shotgun and hand grenades which home in on nearby targets. So essentially it's E1 with pretty graphics. Thoughts?

Just based off screenshot this looks really awesome, nicely detailed textures and color combinations that remind me of some BtSX maps.. cool to see classic maps that are NOT arenas, as well. Also, I love the name combined with the fact there's a female protagonist. haha.
I think what it ultimately comes down to is how satisfying it'd be to "pacify" your enemies, though.

I saw the screenshots for this over on DW. Cage does excellent work. I'm interested in hearing more about your experience with it!

I am pretty much interested in Ion Maiden. No, I'm yet to play it myself because I don't buy EA titles, when it'll be finished I'll see what I do, but so far from the images and gameplay videos I've seen it's pretty kickass, really takes a lot of inspiration from the other popular oldies.

I finished the demo campaign. It took me about 40 minutes once I knew where I should go, and it's safe to say I wasn't disappointed by my purchase. While I've read from others that ammunition is scarce, and that performance is lacking, I had no such problems myself. Ammo is limited the first few minutes, and then you got more than you could ever need until it is over. Of course, if you neglect the vast amount of (often obvious) secret areas which contain said ammo, well, complaining about it is free so why not. Some things I've learned: -Aim high. -You can avoid the bullets if you keep moving sideways. -The baton might seem weak, but tap the attack button a few times in a row instead of pressing it once, and it's better. -You can safely pick up undetonated grenades you've thrown. I'm looking forward to the full experience, available later this year. Meanwhile, here are some nice screenshots:
