There should be a DBP where the only textures allowed are HoMs and all maps are vetoed unless they have 1000 revs and/or two shotting cybies while balancing on a bamboo stalk. We could finally gain some respect with the Doom clique that really counts |

wernergoldberg, you should start schizo-doom-mapping. It's unironically all the craze these days, everyone's doing it. You should submit yours to DBPs too. Nah, there's too much of them already. To stand out one'd better make a player-friendly map like found in classic megawads, with a good number of secrets |

Had the most bizarre out of body experience while mapping for Ending Quest... stumbled across this thread.. read my old messages and apparently I was given the link to it too, just the link was a one liner hidden behind a wall of text by Egregor explaining his resignation.. Why are people such f499075? I vaguely remember hearing about this project (maybe in the threads vordakk mentions he posted on this forum), but I gather you deathevokation spent a good amount of time on it, just for it all to be completely scrubbed from memory over a few map edits. |

Why are people such f499075? I vaguely remember hearing about this project (maybe in the threads vordakk mentions he posted on this forum), but I gather you deathevokation spent a good amount of time on it, just for it all to be completely scrubbed from memory over a few map edits. yeah the opportunity cost I sunk into this was actually massive, embarrasingly so.. like atleast 2 girlfriends worth (including an anime one)... seriously though, yeah I put in thousands of hours and my very first linedefs I drew from back in 2010 were in this project. I started having seizures and took medication that slowed down my mapping speed ability and all the projects I took on before this happened started closing in on me and the pressure became so overwhelming and suffocating, I also got overwhelmed by ultimatums from different projects I couldn't deal with anymore. I needed someone to rely on, but you know, I'm pretty socially retarded, and this is stuff that's pretty cruel to lay on someone in dms when you want to work with them and to bring out the best of them since I want people to join because they love mapping and not out of charity. All this said; this was one project that was actually right on the finish line, and organically so, even with my slow mapping and I was proud of the maps I did finish here; the thing that annoyed me here was that one map needed detailing and the final room in M8 needed a bossfight.. then the thing would be done, everything else was fine, I liked the mappers different styles.. both had a natural Heretic inspiration and the stylistic differences meant that we had diversity, were made by people who preferred Heretic to DooM despite it's shortcomings and used color schemes that brought out the brighter colors... I did manage to get Vordakk to put his map back in but then Egregor withdrew his... but like I said I only received a resignation December the next year but was completely in the dark when the thing was released lmao, I still have no clue what my maps looked like post edit. Also since it's not the most flamboyant project or anything, I kinda wanted a light hearted release but after typing all this I know that's not possible. ;3 As a sidenote the project was absolutely not made with a third party mod in mind (no offence to the author of it, I'm sure it's cool <3 ).. ;D |

Egregor using/releasing deathevokation's work and editing out practically all credit is an extremely shitty thing to do. It also reeks of commie unpersoning of people they disagree with, aside from outright betrayal. Also there are guns in Heretic now: mikestoybox.net/2020/07/02/arkistas-ring/Maybe not actually a normal shotgun but at least one is a spread shot. |
