I've seen desperate attempts to get back into Doomworld's graces before, but this is just sad.

2,5 minutes of gameplay shown, full of obnoxious NES music and I'm-so-random sound effects, interview over Discord chat that doesn't contain any of the teased "proof", language skills on the level of a 13-year-old.

This is just pure, undistilled autism. I honestly don't know if there were any thoughts put into the "interview". The questions don't actually relate to the matter, mostly, and the names and PFP's of the accounts are for some reason concealed when the messages are shown (What, did you play that part out with a sockpuppet or a friend, Roebloz?). Not to mention nobody asks for actual proof, really professional.
And the retarded usage of SMB sound effects and the author's OC interjections make it even worse.

I really, really hope that when I die I can be immortalized in this manner. I hope they host a fucking furry convention in my open grave whilst screaming Luigi creepypasta at each other. I pray that the headstone topples from the plinth, bursting my bastard son like a squashed tomato whilst the whole thing is livestreamed on liveleak. I hope the digger hits the sewer main and gives every single person there hepatitis.

I genuinely want an utter retard like this to attend my cremation, I want him to read my eulogy and superchats dressed as that egg-shitting monstrosity from Mario 2.

how long are you guys gonna clutch onto this narrative that Mr Hypnos is some dork conning all of doomworld so people will pity play his map?

Some of you have been pretty shitty towards Mr.Hypnos in your speculation without him being here to defend himself, which makes you guys look like cowards. Now your cutting up an early youtuber because his content wasn't substantive enough to debunk this narrative, which is both really low and really unfair to Mr.Hypnos.

So far, you're hardly going to be triumphant in the best case scenario for yourselves where you turn out to be right all along. Youre not owed any proof anyway, so you might not even get it, but if Mr.Hypnos is the son of Dr.Sleep, you're absolutely being extremely disrespectful to Dr. Sleep's legacy by dragging his actual living son like this.

we talked about that on IRC channel a little. not with him, of course. i can't talk with him on DW, and he never announced his map here, so i see little reasons to write something more detailed than "yeah, this definitely looks like 'my first map i spent some efforts on'; playable, but boring and faceless."

Until there's proof he didn't lie. And he's not owed any trust or respect simply because he claims he's Dr. Sleep's son.

That doesn't sit well with me. I already find the doom community to be pretty hostile in general but to me this is a really dark turn if by default I am presumed to be lying about who I say I am unless I provide sufficient proof to back it up.

In my opinion i don't see a very strong incentive to lie about something like this. It seems like a difficult ruse to uphold for as long as he wants to continue participating in the community for very little return. It makes much more sense that his identity is real.

Im speaking from memory here, but what i know about Dr. Sleep is that he has had a very spotty past. I remember reading at least a thread or two about investigating what has happened to Dr. Sleep and there was word going around that he was in jail, and this was confirmed by finding his name in a prison directory. Another person found an archive of Dr. Sleep's personal website which included a link to his resume, which contained the address of where he used to live at that time. The google street view showed the house was some tiny beat up old shack in rural pennsylvania in the middle of nowhere (edit i think im wrong about Pennsylvania, i forget what state it was exactly but im pretty sure it was some rural farmland part of the new england region of the united states) Although ive never met or spoken to him personally, it does seem entirely plausible to me that Dr. Sleep had a child he either didnt know about or a life he attempted to run away from. He's a weird dude.

I've never had to verify that I'm not an imposter over the internet. If I ever had to do it, i don't really know how I would, especially in a community that is new to me and to people who didn't actually know anything about me previously and have various metrics of proof they require in order to be convinced. If any of you guys painted me as a liar I'd probably just avoid you entirely. Having to come find you and make you believe me would not be on my list of priorities. I'd just think you are assholes and wouldn't want you as friends anyway.

eh… the core of the problem here is the coupling of "i'm Dr.Sleep son" and "i made a map". it looks like trying to use some well-known person's legacy to draw attention to yourself. which is not that bad thing to do… but it's quite natural that some people want more proofs in this case. because the whole thing smells. it looks like cheap attention whoring. i'm not saying that it definitely is, but it looks like it.

that's just how people work: if somebody wants some profits (PR, in this case) from such claims, people want proofs. if Mr.Hypnos' post would be only about "hey, i found that i'm Dr.Sleep son", without the "…and i made a map" part, i bet there wouldn't be such hostile reaction here.

i.e. it's not about "you cannot be his son", but about "you cannot use his name to advertise yourself without solid proofs". that's why we (me, at least) so upset.

Unlikely, as your sockpuppet being found out in mere hours proves. They can and will run thorough and in-depth IP checks for banned members. Also, as mentioned before, their posting history goes a bit back before their first map's posting.
