Well, he ran it for a long time, and I think no one should be obligated to keep things running forever by themselves. Aside from that, his message does not cite any reasons he is doing so, but I trust he has good reasons, and I would rather not speculate on it.
He didn't mention anything about site closing, so I hope he finds someone to maintain it.

I asked him if there was n exit plan for realm667 and he said it's not going anywhere. This farewell is just him. We got some really cool projects because of him, and his early mapping is what inspired me most to be a good mapper.

I'm glad for his website because of the resources I've used in my projects. It's understandable if you don't have time or lose interest overtime making wads. Regardless, I wish him luck in his future endeavors.

It should be noted that the thread at doomworld dedicated to Tormentor667's departure (he started it himself) went without any negativity, quite the opposite in fact, people have come to give support and share that his work was an inspiration to them: www.doomworld.com/forum/topic/120009-fat-reward-ticket-home-my-farewell/I also saw no signs of moderators deleting posts. It seems plausible that people were courteous on their own, makes doomworld look morally superior in this instance. Who the fuck draws old junk from the garbage bin? Those errors of his were history, dealt some damage, he effectively paid the price (yes, doomworld's thread could have had more posts otherwise), the cases have concluded, and he is not going to stay around and engage you on these issues anymore. I wouldn't want to be tethered forever to some endeavor of mine and so don't wish that to another. |

Also, in case pagb finds these boards: you don't need to disable vsync, you need to disable uncapped framerate in video options on the very next page. That fixes perceived issues with mouse movement and probably will fix performance issues when using high resolution as well. Playing doom with uncapped framerate is just wrong.
