Damn font is so small I can't read most of the names, not that I know any of these people. Interesting you mention Bloodshedder. Wouldn't being a drama queen require having a personality? I've been on and off this community for 6 years and that dude has done nothing that would indicate a feeling, living person is behind the screen. No opinions, no insight, no feedback, no participation...nothing. He could be replaced by a basic script and no one would notice. What that kind of person gets out of being in any community is lost on me I guess.
I see Doomkid as a rational person who likes to see both sides of shit, regardless of how stupid as well. Good guy.

I guess mainly Terrywadders don't like the guy because he rejects things he doesn't like according to him. He does seem notable enough in Doomworld for me to add him to the wad. If you download the wad and change the video ratio to 4:3 you would have a better chance of reading the names.

You're pretty big into this Terrywad thing, and it seems like you're waging war against doomworld for reasons I'm not sure anyone really knows. Doomworld drama seems to be fairly non-existent these days, I think. What is your motivation for this?

I guess mainly Terrywadders don't like the guy because he rejects things he doesn't like according to him. Do terrywads conform to the rules of the archive? If so I see no reason they would be not allowed. As long as they have a txt file that states what they are doing and what to expect going in, people should be able to choose to download them or not. Like 40oz said maybe I just don't understand what is really going on, but rejecting things out of personal preference sounds like it would have been called out by many others at this point, I mean the archive has been around forever. |

I see what you mean. There was nothing wrong with that wad, in fact I thought it was awesome, it made me chuckle. The flippant dismissal from the archive paints a fairly telling picture as well. I'd like to hear real reasoning why these wads are banned. My only logical guess would be that due to the quickness and ease of creation the archive would be flooded with this stuff. But you'd never get a straight answer from these omnipotent figureheads, as they seem to have nothing but contempt for most of the community. Really we have no one to blame but ourselves for allowing them to take control.

Thing about terrywads: the maintainers do accept them... but only those that DON'T take any goddamn effort to make or are just plain bad even by terrywad standards.
This guy named terkar sergant who makes absolute garbage and AFAIK blatantly steals other people's stuff is accepted, but Nambona890 (who IMO makes absolutely god-tier terrywads) is literally banned from /idgames.
According to the terry folks I have somewhat of an affiliation with, this crap started with Ty's death *sniff*. Ty would accept everything that wasn't flat-out malicious (messes up configs, zip bombs, etc).

My brother's first and last attempt at downloading and playing user made maps was something that described itself as an epic adventure and starts out normal but went into full ear rape mode... I have no problem with wads that falsely advertise themselves getting deleted, infact I'm happy for that.. at the same time though, there's nothing wrong with that wad you posted, it put a smile on my face. : )

Ty wasn't totally impartial. I've had some weird email exchanges with him about stuff I've tried to upload. I think a lot of stuff slipped by without a lot of analysis, maybe? I doubt he played everything that came in, and I think he used some sort of program to review the text files to make sure they followed certain criteria.
I'm kinda conflicted about that trump wad:
1. There has been a precedent set with politically/topical themed wads in the 90's that have used Bill Clinton's head for cacodemons or whatever. So a wad about Donald Trump probably shouldn't be rejected on the grounds of being about Donald Trump
2. The use of imps as illegal aliens is kind of a racial caricature, isn't it? They certainly aren't fireball throwing monsters, here.
3. Race and political issues have been severely divisive on the internet to the point where people have stopped talking to friends and family members based on who they vote for and what positions they stand for. I think most sane people are hopeful this hysteria will eventually pass with time. I think the issue is that it can be offensive to some people, but it's not meant to be played. The word "played" meaning a manner in which you would play Doom or a game where you actually interact with it, not played like hitting the play button on a video.
Your trump wad in question is great for a youtube video because you get all the same content you could possibly get by watching your video as you would by playing it yourself. It might be worth reminding BloodShedder and TheGreenHerring that by being the /idgames maintainers, they don't actually represent the content that is made available there. It's just an archive for all things doom, and the responsibility they volunteered for doesn't represent their personal interests. Still it seems like you accomplished exactly the kind of experience you wanted to create with a youtube video though, right?

That wad is awesome. I like funny, creative stuff like that, even if it's in a bite-sized format. You might consider doing more in that style if you can, maybe make a longer level with multiple clever encounters like that, or even multiple levels. Just because it may offend someone doesn't mean it should be banned from being archived and preserved. A good compromise would be making a special section for "offensive wads", so the snowflakes can avoid any wads that may trigger them. This is the first time I'm able to actually communicate with you guys - here and there I saw that those kids appear to have no form of life outside of their impact on the Doom community in this form.
