Okay, serious answers this time. 1. LZDoom for single player. LZDoom for (multiple-instanced) split screen with friends. Zandronum/ZDaemon/Odamex online multiplayer whatever the occasion is. In the last couple years I've mapped for a range of single player GZDoom Hexen to strictly vanilla doom/doom2.exe, but I prefer to edit for Zandronum being mindful of what I can adapt Odamex/ZDaemon versions of. If I want to play really vanilla, I use Odamex. If I want to strictly test vanilla or record demos I use doom/doom2.exe in dosbox. I love Zandronum but don't like how Lost Souls behave differently than vanilla. Early ZDoom made their behavior more like Heretic imps and only later ZDooms corrected it back. I really like free mouselook but don't like the extreme angles ZDoom lets you look, due to how sprites look, though it's fine for looking at architecture. 2. Widescreen 1280x960 or windowed 1024x768 or 800x600 or 640x400 for other purposes (multi instance LZDoom or recording video). On the subject of hardware vs software. I like hardware a good amount of the time, but if I see a bunch of sprites being clipped by the floor, I saw screw it and go with software. I hate texture-filtering, at least on normal res Doom textures. Filtering actually made the lines separating Gstone's bricks disappear from a distance while they looked fine and more detailed from the same distance in software mode. Slopes and 3D sector transfers are fine on their own, but having a sloped 3D sector transfer can still only be rendered in hardware mode, right?
3. Don't usually see the option, but we can do better than 35 while uncapped or over 100 is bullshit. WHY has nobody said 70 FPS?! 35 with all Doom's frames of animation set to go by that divides perfectly into 70. If I see the option for a specific number greater than 35 I'm making it 70. Am I missing something? Better to go with monitor refresh rate? Maybe I'll understand 105.
4. Continuous. Saving sometimes. Try not to do it too often unless a map is really unfair BS. I save scummed the crap out of Final Doom when I first played through it over 20 years ago. Don't want to play like that now. There's some youtuber who savescums horribly and it drives me nuts.
5. The SC-55 Roland soundfont if I can find where to select it. I also like CD audio which Zandronum still has but newer GZDoom has gotten rid of and it seems QuakeSpasm-Spiked might have too. More recently I've been setting alternate CD tracks with certain CD's in mind aside from the regular midi/mus in my mapinfos, such as Bobby Prince's official CD recorded off an actual Roland SC-55 or the Heretic II CD for a Heretic 1 episode -- Close enough.

2. "Widescreen or good ol' 4:3?" - I could go for either one, but most of the time it's 4:3.
3. "60+ fps or 35 fps?" - Definitely 35FPS, it makes movement feel more natural to me.
4. "Pistol start or continuous? Saveless or with saves?" - I play continuously with saves.
5. "What soundfont do you mainly use?" - Usually the default Windows MIDI soundfont.
6. "Your favorite wad (pick one)" - Memento Mori.

I used to use Doom Retro a lot but now I use GZDoom mostly, partially to make sure my maps work in it and partially because I'm actually pretty impressed with how things look in it given a little tweaking. 2. I can go either way, though I like 4:3 because I don't like the HUD getting clipped off 3. As high as possible, my monitor runs at 144hz 4. Depends on how I feel though I like continuous for big long wads 5. Arachno 6. Eviternity |

in the past i siad cirsppy doom wansnt ijrispopy enough but then he got mad and that make me feel terrible but not toomuch because he gt what a he deseved when he i udated but he wanted to know what versio ni was plaiytng on but now he w iwall never knowasnd he only ahave him self to bllame but i llove crsoo py doom but als o i hearad hter is wooof porttt does woof port better than cris pt ? becaus i was head it hadthhinfs crispy did n ot and that makes me scared to cahnamge ports because i play crispy so long and i play woof can someone etell me how to go ack to to crispyt if woof makse me feeel terrible please help if no one answer i get very angeryyyyy becuase oports arfe hard to fidn are the re ports here to play doom 2 with and do they acome with sonic because ome mods have sonic as a friend and i like having sonica as a frinend so please ?

crispy doom is not meant to be crispy. its a doom sourceport and it cannot taste like that , you cant eat it. if you would burn a cd with it , you still could not eat it. and i have not tested the woof port so far , i know nothing about it , i dont play it because i like to play with gzdoom and it gets the job done. and you dont need to feel scared because you can down load it and you can install crispy doom next to woof. that is what i did , because i have crispydoom and gzdoom both on my pc and it just works. i even have prboom and all the other sourceports but they re not as good so i use either crispydoom or gzdoom. and yes you can go back to crispydoom. because you still can open crispydoom even if there is woof on your pc too. and sourceports do not come here with sonic. if you want that you need to have a sonic mod , and that is very easy to find , because there are some mods , so if you want to play as sonic you gotta find a wad for that but you have to search for one. and if you want to have sonic as a friend you have to try to summon him and if it doesnt work , you can still ask the question to him if he wants to be friends in your head , and he will possibly come to you and tell you the answer to your question. and if you ask him in a very nice way and you are a real fan of his games , then it probably will work. so please dont feel terrible

he asked and he felt bad. so i wanted to help him by explaining it to him. he needed help with the sourceports and i wanted to answer him. so why cant i help him ? i told him that he can use more sourceports than 1 on his pc. i just wanted to help him.
