Review my map in the DBP39 thread. Do you own Doom merchandise? Any photos? What's your favorite DBP theme? Can I lead next month's DBP? Has anyone else asked you to lead a DBP?

You're still planning to release UAC Ultra 2 one day, right? How far along is it?

do you like to sniff your own butt I don't think I could reach if I tried. What was the reason for your long disappearance from doomer boards? There wasn't any catalyst. My wife told me that she could see that the doom community was stressing me out. She insisted that I should take a break and I agreed. The intention was only for a few weeks. As days went on, i could feel I was getting more relaxed, and my head clearer, so I basically kept it going until it stopped feeling better, which took over a year. Being out of the community for that long really put a lot of things into perspective, for me. I was actually thinking pretty seriously about just dropping out completely, forever. But while I wasn't participating in the doom community, I didn't actually stop playing the game, and I liked making maps, working on projects, and discussing map ideas with people. Creating doom levels is my calling and I don't think it will ever leave me alone. Did my idea the other day suck? Ah fuck man, I knew I was forgetting something! I'm sorry. I love all your ideas. Give me a few hours I'll get back to you on this with more detail. Review my map in the DBP39 thread. Not a question, but sure. Do you own Doom merchandise? Any photos? I have a couple Doom shovelware CDs, like DeathDay and Demon Gate. I have a Doom shot glass, a skateboard, two magazine ads, one for Final Doom and another for Doom for SNES. I also have a doom tattoo if that counts. I think I have photos somewhere but they're not readily available. I'll have to find them or take new ones and upload. What's your favorite DBP theme? That's a tough question to answer. I just like the series as a whole, because theres so much diversity in it. There have been projects that were very easy to make but not fun to play, fun to play but not to watch, and fun to watch but not easy to make. Ideally, the best project would make the best of all three. I think AUGER;ZENITH knocked it out of the park for being a really compelling viewing experience. Monuments of Mars was the easiest to make. There's a bunch that are tied for first for being fun to play. I'm hoping one day a project will be put together that is the most accessible for mappers, the most fun to play for players, and is fantastic to watch over twitch. Can I lead next month's DBP? Has anyone else asked you to lead a DBP? I'm sorry I haven't gotten back to you on that. The process of delegating leadership roles to other people was something concieved by the now DBk people that have since taken off. I don't really love the way that it went. It comes off to me that they were on a mission to reinvent the project by pulling it away from this forum. I don't like that I have to be so distrusting of people who want to be in charge of one, but unfortunately they've made it that way. I'm still in the process of figuring out what the leadership role is supposed to be. I'm still not even totally sure what it means for myself. At this time I see it as potential source of conflict if I jump into it before I know for sure what it's all about. I really need the leader and I see eye to eye on exactly how it should be going, because I've had to help soften conflicts in many projects I didn't lead and I really don't like to have to do that. You're still planning to release UAC Ultra 2 one day, right? How far along is it? A lot of the ideas I've had for UAC Ultra 2 have been repurposed in DBPs. I've got some pretty awesome textures for it but not much else. I had this vision that UU2 would be like an amalgamation of everything I've learned as a mapper, but through working on DBPs, I'm always learning new things and my old ideas become obsolete. UU2 is really not very fun to work on without Super Jamie, and in my experience finding a new partner, I always have way too much more of myself invested in the project than they do, so it's just not the same. There's a lot of useless hype surrounding it too and the expectation is that if it takes this long then it has to be good, and it pretty much certainly won't deliver on what people expect from it. I don't really know what to do about it at this point. I've found a lot more satsifaction in working on DBPs than in anything I've made for UAC Ultra 2.

Can I get a tracklist for the midis used in the resource pack for DBP34: Luminous Gloom? Sorry, I know you've asked this before and I meant to get back to you on that. I saved a list somewhere but I lost it somehow so I had to look it up again, which I did just now: D_RUNNIN | Facing Worlds from Unreal Tournament D_STALKS | MAP01 from grb01.wad D_COUNTD | MAP01 from neverend.wad D_BETWEE | MAP01 from prophet3.wad D_DOOM | MAP16 from darken2.wad D_THE_DA | MAP03 from icarus.wad D_SHAWN | MAP10 from d2redux.wad D_DDTBLU | E1M2 from 2001DM.wad D_IN_CIT | MAP01 from derelictpl.wad D_DEAD | Track 3 from Blackthorne
Are you not happy with the way I managed DBP36 when you let me lead it? I'm happy with it

Is your (content removed) large? The process of delegating leadership roles to other people was something concieved by the now DBk people that have since taken off. I don't really love the way that it went. Dude you left the forum for 1,5 years without telling anyone, and you led all the dbps up to that point. What else did you expect? I was personally amazed by the way everyone kept it going. (also, if it wasn't for that democratic model, the whole series would've likely ended up in Glen's hands and nobody else's.) EDIT since I didn't wanna doublepost. This is gonna sound a bit self centered but that's me 4u. Some time ago I did some digging into old DB threads to feel that nostalgia and noticed an interesting detail: the first DBP was announced like a month after I made that one DB speedmapping session somewhere in late 2017, during the peak of the speedmapping craze. Tell me honestly were you inspired by that? Once again this sounds incredibly self-centered considering I've never contributed to a DBP, but I've had the thought in the back of my mind ever since.

Is your (content removed) large? I've never been told it was small. What else did you expect? I didn't have any expectations. Tell me honestly were you inspired by that? I'm not sure. It probably helped. I knew we needed something to help unify us as a community besides shitposting and talking about politics. There were a lot of different things that put it together. I think we had a few deathmatch sessions that were fun, and dn posted some screenshots of deathmatch maps using custom textures he made. I thought maybe a deathmatch map pack could be cool. Though with different time zones and conflicting work schedules I was pretty sure it would be too difficult to coordinate. I had a really good experience managing Plutonia 1024 and Mutiny, so I just thought i'd just do more of that here. I had Scythe 2 and Kuchitsu in mind a lot. Scythe 2 because of the distinct themes per episode, and kuchitsu for being a mini-mapset that still felt 'complete.' I originally thought the DBPs would only have like 3-5 maps each and was prepared to be satisfied with just that. Seriously shocked how much they've blown up. EDIT: oh i found the thread where the idea was born doomer.boards.net/thread/237/doomer-boards-community-project

Are there any plans to make new episodes on World Extermination Radio? What was the reason to pause it?

Are there any plans to make new episodes on World Extermination Radio? What was the reason to pause it? i havent thought about it much. I usually set up the episodes by reaching out to people through doomworld. Once i was banned, that became a pretty big obstacle and the effort wasnt worth it.

If you imagine that it is one year from today, these boards and the DBPs have exceeded your expectations and you are overwhelmingly happy.
What happened and why did it happen?

If you imagine that it is one year from today, these boards and the DBPs have exceeded your expectations and you are overwhelmingly happy. What happened and why did it happen? DBP has already been successful since the beginning. For me, success is not really in the project. It is on a per mapper basis. glenzinho for example, as cunty as he is, made more maps for DBP than he otherwise made in his entire presence in the Doom community. Hes become so prolific and his skills have really sharpened. I love that. ive seen some people make their first released maps ever through the doomer boards project and thats fuckin awesome. it gives me a lot of joy to watch new mappers and old mappers working together. I like to see people rise out of their mappers block and make something really fuckin cool. Some day id like to see some of the forum oldheads give it a try like @vordakk, deathevokation, dn or Justince. Even if its a really small contribution like making a piece of art or music or playtesting a map or two. In my experience working with mappers, mappers can be very sensitive about their creations. They want to make maps but they dont want to fail. Theres a large surplus of great content which makes it a lot to compete with. The way forward is to just take the plunge and try at something and im thrilled to see people try with Doomer Boards Project. Every month is a new surprise and its awesome.

ok what is your one favourite DBP. you've gotta pick one, not do some weakarse 'oh but they're all special in their own way' bullshit
if you really can't pick just one, pick two: your favourite DBP that you led, and your favourite that you didn't.

When you play doom, do you use the mouse? If the answer is yes, do you use mouselook (meaning do you enable the ability to look up and down using the mouse)? If the answer is again yes, do you have autoaim on or off?
Curious because my preferred way to play doom is with using mouselook whilst having autoaim off. Just wondering if I'm alone in this regard.

Which programs do you use for working with doom graphics? i wouldn't recommend this to anyone, i just use these because i always used them. -MS Paint (windows vista version, the interface for windows 7 and onwards sucks) - Irfanview for recoloring and resizing - GIMP, usually just to make a transparent layer to blend two images together I'm trying to get my shit together, and procrastinate less. My productivity of late has been utter garbage. In contrast, you're a pretty prolific dude: any advice or tips on dealing with artistic blocks / general "fuck this shit" apathy? Time limits help me a lot. in terms of writing, id set a timer for 10 minutes. Basically this gives yourself permission to make crap. i write everything i can stream of consciousness style, then after time is up, edit it down to something more sensible or until i dont hate it anymore. If thats not working for you, i made a thread here with a bunch of tips you can try. Its mapping focused but a lot of it applies to other creative blocks as well. doomer.boards.net/thread/1694/ways-kick-mappers-block-ass
