I'm done playing for the day but I always have 3 co-op Zandronum servers with custom WADs running via TSPG. Search "DOEL's Vanilla Gameplay". No mods, no jumping, no crouching, no vertical mouselook, but items respawn and friendly fire is turned off.

Sometimes it gets poppin'. I've had as many as 10+ players in a game several times now. If it's not me alone, there's usually 3-4 players.

Right now I have them running with Ancient Aliens, Nova III, and Community Chest 4. I'll take requests for WADs to try out.

I want to play Doom with you guys again but don't know what server with what mapset to play on. Sooo if anyone has anything let's schedule a dooming session. I'll be there.

Yknow I have a weird aversion to PvP multiplayer, sort of. I often have a good time when I play it, and I used to play a good bit of pub ctf in the 2010's. While I was never really that great, I could play pretty competently at the time. With how much more energy I decided to put towards mapping and making textures than I decided to put towards playing I doubt id get any good again. But my perception of doom I think has manifested as more of a cooperative activity all in all. The relationship between mapper and player can be a pretty strong bond. I want players to kill my monsters, and it makes me happy when they want to too.

In PvP your more or less having fun at the expense of the other player. Unless of course youre pretty evenly matched or oddly comfortable with taking repeated beatings, or worse, just mercilessly and consistently dominating your incompetent buddies, then I guess it kinda levels out. There is a little bit of mapping relationship in there too if the mapper gets to watch players kill each other in it but not a lot.

I'm kinda partial to single player honestly but for the most part but coop seems to me to be closest to doom in terms of having a random doom hangout
