DOWNLOAD >>>>>RC2<<<<<Previous: RC1.1Rumor has it that a CERTAIN big, evil corporation has been hiding its secret Nazi past! That's not good, especially with all the paranormal research facilities they've been building over on the red planet...
OCCULT SECRETS OF THE THIRD REICH ON MARS is the 21st limit-removing project from the inglorious bastards themselves: the Doomer Boards Krew. Featuring nine maps of outrageous soon-to-be-banned-in-Germany action, not to mention possibly the most sector swastikas ever assembled in a single WAD file, OSotTRoM is a timely reminder that the only good Nazi demon is a dead Nazi demon. Excellent work as per usual Bill! We're looking for any bug reports if you come across them asap, we'll be doing a coop test and some more in depth continuous play tests over the coming week to get this one finalised soon. Great work all around to those who contributed and helped out along the course of the month with feedback and such, your efforts are appreciated as always... now go and shoot some Nazi scum! On Mars!

Wolfendoom. Did nazi that coming. Was randomizing on idgames the other night and happened to get a dreadful wad from early 2000's that used Wolfenstein textures. Looking forward to play some nice maps in the same visual vein to cancel out the negative experience.

First bug found already and it's a doozy unfortunately: MAP01 cannot be exited on PrB+ -cl2 as the exit platform switches refuse to function. There'll almost certainly be a quick update for this one when Bill receives his notification of it. In the meantime until Bill can get on it, download this bugfix version of MAP01 and load both wads with this patch wad last in order of loading so exiting MAP01 is possible: MAP01 bugfix wad

nice! EDIT: I'm four maps in. This is a lot of fun! I don't normally like people's dehacked patching and monster replacements but the first map acclimated me to it really well and I'm enjoying this a lot. It's like a (can't believe im saying this) family friendly nazi-themed wad. Great work everyone!

yo this wad is hilarious; it really takes itself the right amount of seriously while playing really really well. The wolfenstein resources dont even look out of place in this when mixed with the recolored doom monsters and self-mocking comedy of this, its just fantastic. Joke wads are a dead genre but this may very well be the redemption. I'm having a great time playing this. Really outdone yourselves -- bravo, my dudes, bravo.

Finished the whole mapset in 100 minutes, and I found a couple of bugs :
MAP05 : The pain elemental in the last arena seems to be stuck and not be able to shoot lost souls as a result. MAP06 : The midtexture black nazi signs are lower than they should be, the texture used shift the offsets for some reason while I was using the unfinished texture pack.

Decided to pistol start every map this time like a dork. Link to the demos if anyone wants them. Crispy Doom CL-2 Keyboard Only Ultra-Violence DBP21 Version 1.1 used as stress relief from being a virtual doughnut sculpter. MAP01: Good opener, not sure how I'm expected to fight the 4 archviles but I guess I'm not supposed to. MAP02: Neat map with a particularly striking design. MAP03: Fun Wolfenstein map. Could maybe use a chaingun at the start for some mowing down of dudes. MAP04: Fun map and all around well rounded. Thumbs up. MAP05: Found this map to be really pleasant and that thought stands out more for me than the map itself so another thumbs up from me. Nice MIDI too. MAP06: This map killed me a lot and I had some trouble in it. Still cool with a neat design and is an endurance test. There's a chicken dinner and a medkit next to each other in one of the final gas chambers that ended up having me waste potential health points due to their placement. Nice with neato secrets. MAP07: Needs more ammo as I had to punch two barons to death to save some. Tightest balance with the somewhat expected cunt design. I ended up saving for the first time at the final room since just by looking at it I knew it was gonna be some bullshit. After savescumming my way through I noticed that invulnerability sphere off in the distance which would have been helpful to know about earlier. That final area was like what I complained about in Joe's DBP12 map regarding the prison rape factor except this fight is messier and punishes lack of foreknowledge the most. Best room was the one with the 50 barons and weak cyberdemon out of everything which also has all the ammo in the map (lol). MAP08: Neat map though I got lost for a bit and found a graphical glitch which I'll share. Never found a weapon to use the cell ammo with so I guess maybe that had me playing more cautiously. Some infinite height problems here but it worked out. Nice. MAP09: Billy's best boss map and should be a new standard. Thumbs up. MAP10: I like how you can scroll the credits up and down. Fits the theme well. MAP08 glitch: I also really like the message screen regarding ideologically diverse groups though it could another lookover (I noticed that the quotation marks are inconsistent). Another successful DBP launch grats y'all.

Thanks cuppy! Also appreciate the bug reporting from Joe, who continues to be the best in biz as far as bug-hunting goes. Probably gonna do some tweaking and updating tonight!

Awesome just like always. I've been a fan of this site community map wads since the Forest Assault (If that was how it was called) one.
I will give it a shot to this one right now.

The damaging gas was a cool hazard and spiced up the things many times. I only had a problem with the visuals that often were too dark and many textures looked more like giant blobs of color, I don't know if it's caused by the new palette or the overall low light levels used. Many nostalgic things too , it's been so long since I played Wolf 3d to see many little things taken from it. The naked revenant is 10 times more spooky though the winner to me for the best replacement is the arachnotron, just a very simple touch but now it's so fitting for the them
MAP01: I think Billy has become a master to introduce the themes. It's cool how the level starts as an ordinary techbase, empy at first, until you discover the secret Nazi base. MAP02: I got fooled for by the pain elemental, I though it was decoration and how it was a neat trick to have the lost souls to keep teleporting D: nice short map MAP03: It's quite rough at the start, no armor, lots of hitscanners and not so much health around. Didn't know how to get the SSG but I saw in the editor that you can pick it after killing all the keens, though I would make it availabe when you discover that secret. It could help to make the map more fun to play, you can retreat easily from the dangerous situations and it's quite a slog with only the SG/CG. I guess it's okay, not that interesting. MAP04: Fucked up few times, and resulting in some funny situations, but I was able to see der Führer when it get introduced. MAP05: I was chaught in some interesting situations here as well. The start is the hardest part, when you have to get through the first fights. Low ammo on a pistol starts but you can get some fiene goodies if you survive the first part it's tricky but manageable. Cool midi" MAP06: I liked the SHAWN2 rooms and it was fun overall. Who's VOE?? or VAE??!! MAP07: Lots of secrets to find, I wanted to explore more but due to the darkness problem I said before I struggled catch the eventual hints, and got more immersed in the combats. The cyberfurher battle with barons (a-la Tricks and Traps) and others, best encounter of the wad. MAP08: Glad to see you here Valkyriforce! Taking us for a rather long journey exploring military base, almost bunker-like, complex. The campfires, were quite funny. I didn't realized the cyberfurher was behind the flames in the last "obstacle course", I tried to rush but it didn't worked. Just few more meters and I was safe D: MAP09: I agree with Cuppy, best boss map by Billy. Very fun, and cinematic too. Took me a while but it was worth it.

Cool thanks gaspe!
As far as the palette goes, the situation is kind of interesting here: we're using the original Wolf3D palette, which of course wasn't built for Doom-style lighting variation. So especially with darker areas (of which there are plenty, appropriately imho given the "occult secrets" side of the theme) hardware rendering ends up looking noticeably better than software, although I think there's still a certain gritty charm in software rendering. Basically, there's just not the same set of extended, gently graduated dark color ranges in the Wolf3D palette, so stuff can get a little odd and mushy as things get darker. This is a set where I sorta feel like the GlB+/ZDoom/GZ experience is more of the "true" visual experience for me, personally.
I agree that glen won the encounter-of-the-set crown! Also happy to hear the nice comments on the boss map. If there's one (or two?) things I love it's making the "bookends" of a set, finding a way to introduce a theme and ultimately bringing it to a hopefully fun and memorable conclusion.

The pallete worked pretty nicely for me, though I did have trouble with the new revenants blending too much with the scenery.
Ideally I think strong light contrast with super bright areas general and scary dark rooms works better than a blanket 112-144 light level across the map. Easy to say after the fact. Probably harder when youre mapping for it.
Under the time crunch and getting adjusted to new assets, i think this was a remarkably good accomplishment for all mappers involved. Really knocked it out of the park.
