Tired of low effort Spongebob ones too. On the occasion I've seen that show at someone's house, sometimes it's funny and whacked out like this episode that imitated John Carpenter's The Thing mixed with The Fly or there's episodes that are just retarded and make people dumber for having watched them.

Are you talking about facebook? I asked in a group of mine and they seem to be having the same problem. Pretty frequently when I scroll I'll be sent 'suggested page' posts of shitty boomer humor newspaper comics kind of in the same ballpark as The Far Side, (example below) Usually they are making some lame pun or whatever about their pathetic sex life or how they hate their wife. I don't know why facebook thinks I'm the demographic for this. I keep blocking them but theres tens of thousands of pages like this and I can only block one at a time. I was terrified for a moment that my interests have gotten so outdated that I thought I somehow convinced the algorithm that I was some geriatric irrelevant old douche that would be entertained by this. But as it turns out a lot of people in my age bracket are getting similar content and can't get it to leave.  |

I think it's the fucking algorithm - it measures attention (i.e: how long you take to scroll past boomertoons content). If you stop scrolling to see a pair of tits masquerading as an advert then you're suddenly gonna get a lot more tits. Likewise, you stop to read a cartoon caption (or, worse choose to engage with it in any way, even if you are applying the GTFO button judiciously) then prepare yourself for an onslaught of similar content.
Social media is a fucking cancer.

Not sure if my algorithm is broke or working right anywhere since I'm almost never shown anything new or that I haven't approved of. Outside of facebook, which is like shoving your face into a dumpster full of trash tier memes.
