40oz , May I suggest (but not necessarily endorse yet or in the long term) a new moderation method: 'Mutually Assured Post-throttling Destruction': If you see a problem-pair that don't have off switches and can't help blowing up threads, maybe put a 3-post-per-day throttle on them for a week. Only apply in pairs to avoid cultivating an echo chamber. This system can be gamed and has flaws, but I dunno I'm just plopping an idea on the table. If this forum is blowing up more than usual, it puts strain on the wild-west model. Management of "free-speech" vs "noise and limited real-estate" sounds like a fun thing to deal with that I definitely wouldn't wanna deal with either. Though, part of me also wants to kidnap people like vigilantdoomer and NIH, and throw them both into a colloseum. And before they even turn their heads towards me, I'll point a laser pointer in the middle of the arena and wiggle it around, watching the hilarity ensue. ("I get my psychometrics and evolutionary psychology as a side-order from elsewhere...". teheheee. pffft. fufufufuuuuuu. muahahahaha)Side-note: I feel like Doomworld is a victim of its own size. I have a fanfic where Doomworld implodes and doomerboards becomes the next too big to fail mess. And then 40oz and dn can't manage it so they peace out and fling several people into the role of moderating the fucking mess, repeating the cycle altogether. Woah, hold up! Which turbo scale are we talking about here? Doom's old -turbo parameter or Street Fighter 2 Turbo? If we're going by Doom's -turbo then 1% is going to slow things worse than rigor mortis up hill on a cold day. You can expect maybe two years between posts and people will literally die from boredom due to atrophy of their mind deteriorating into fatal neurological conditions. If we're talking about SF 2 Turbo, then Turbo 500 will tear and hemorrhage the space time continuum which is already screwed enough. Actually it's worth a shot at doing something to change it. Turbo 500 it is.

If you set the turbo high enough you actually start going backwards, try that maybe, and see if it affects the forum.

Old PCs had button Turbo somewhere next to "power on", that's what I was talking about. Although starting from I don't know what year, the custom changed to have one always on rather than off by default.
