So, I'm split 50/50 on this whole "taking an experimental vaccine for a disease that has a 0.012% chance of killing me" bullshit. I like the idea of bodily autonomy and all, but I also don't want to look stupid by accidentally dying of covid.
Help me bros.

If Russian kind wasn't the only option here, I would take it, although this is indeed feels like volunteering a bit.

I'd probably trust the Russian kind more since it's most likely synthesized from potatoes and not fetal adrenochrome.

I think I'll be taking the Russian one as well when I'm home. It's also the only one made by a COUNTRY for its own citizens, with no consideration of profit involved, so I actually kinda trust it more. I should probably do some research on the different vaccines, I should know something about the process of making vaccines but I don't.
Btw I find it amazing how, at the height of the antivax sentiment, in the middle of a devastating pandemic, they still managed to completely shit the bed with those vaccines.

I find that most people that were hesitant to take the vaccine eventually got it, because other did. But there will always be some hold-over that doesn't. That's fine, we only need 70%-80% for herd immunity. Pfizer, and Moderna are mRNA vaccines, that only use a protein encased in nanolipids, which instructs your body to produce antibodies, to fight what your body thinks is coronavirus. Unlike other vaccines, it is not using an attenuated version of the disease. So they are not injecting you with Covid-19. The side-effects that some people are claiming are caused by your body responding to the protein (i.e. fever, chills, headache, etc.) It is not uncommon for some vaccines to do this. Your body is fighting what it thinks is Covid, and producing antibodies. Johnson & Johnson actually do use an attenuated version of the disease, but that is how traditional vaccines work. The reason why they were able to produce it so fast, is because they did each stage parallels to one another, received unlimited resources, and were given top priority. They didn't shit the bed here in the USA, with the vaccines. As a matter of fact, we will be the first major power to have herd immunity. If anything, the rest of the world shit the bed. I don't know anything about the Russian vaccine.

But it will take many years for some countries to reach it, maybe even decades for some third world countries, we don't even have data for.

Me personally, I don't want to risk unforeseen medical issues from a half-assed experimental vaccine for a virus with a 99.98% survival rate.

Yeah, that tipped me as well. I think Iceland halted the Astra vaccine for the better part of a month, cuz blood clots. Of course, our government continued to insist it was perfectly safe and that liquid blood is fucking overrated anyway.

For Astrazeneca, you are absolutely right that they fudged the research, but you will not be given that in the United States. I believe they rescinded the approval, which shows that they are indeed holding them to standards. But more so, why I trust both Moderna and Pfizer particularly, is that part of the reason they were able to produce a vaccine for it so quickly, is that they Whole-Genome Sequenced the virus. Three days later, they were able to produce a model for how to best combat the virus, based on the fact that they decoded 100% of the covid-19 genome. Back in the day, something like this would have cost billions of dollars. Nowadays, they are able to do it for about a thousand dollars, thanks to break throughs in genetics. This was all done under the supervision of Francis Collins, who headed the Human Genome Project. Thus, I feel that to reject the science behind the vaccine, is also to reject the genetics completely. Which is something I cannot agree with.

I don't know much about Moderna. Most people I know who have told me they've received the covid shot came from Moderna. I don't trust Pfizer. They've done some shady shit in the past such as bribing Nigerian officials in fatal drug testing trials back in 1996.
I'll look into more of the Human Genome Project.

Moderna and Pfizer are both mRNA vaccines (mRNA synthesizes the spike protein). Astrazeneca and Sputnik are adenovirus vector vaccines, where there is an extra step - the sequence required to encode the spike protein is inserted into the adenovirus DNA, which turns into mRNA already inside your body, and then proceeds as the mRNA vaccines. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_vaccine#Vaccine_types

Not against that whole idea of vaccination, but quality, safety, and transparency have sunk quite low as the companies basically write their own approval and I wouldn't be surprised if these stand to be the most profitable ever. It's a simple fact that not all vaccines are created equal. I'm not putting that shit in my veins.
Today saw a woman who was somewhat messed up and out of it from her first shot and complained it messed with her heart and a friend was telling her should go to her doctor.

Nah, I won't take it. Those new vaccines aren't properly tested, all those needed tests were bypassed by emergency authorisation and who knows what long term consequences will be. Even now there are people who die after few days of vaccine injection. Always do research before injecting unknown things in your system, not only in mainstream, but in alt sites too. It's kind of funny that we went from "we must lockdown for 2 weeks to flatten curve" to "if you won't take vaccine, you will lose your job". I know, I sound like crazy conspiracy nut guy.
P.s few relatives took vax, they are alright as for now, but I don't know how it will be in the future with their health, I tend to believe that long term consequences might overweight short term benefits.

It is important to do research, but when doing so, you should decide how much trust to put in each piece of information you read.
It is not strictly true that the vaccines were not properly tested. They went through the same type of clinical trials that vaccines normally go through. A lot was sped up, and a lot of bureaucracy was waived, because the situation was deemed an emergency. It should not surprise anyone that systems consisting of human beings are able to temporarily raise their productivity ten-fold when there is an actual emergency afoot.
Most of the people talking about "flaws in the methodology" of the testing simply have no idea what this methodology is, because they never bothered to learn how this kind of stuff normally done. They are seeing the regular issues that happen in every clinical trial of a new medicine, and point to it as if it indicates some abnormality of the current vaccines.
I have spent some time going through the claims of people opposing the COVID-19 vaccines. Many of them start off by telling you that they don't oppose vaccines in general, just these ones. Usually when you dig deeper, most claims don't hold up to scrutiny. They cite studies and statistics that they obviously don't understand or misinterpret, and often at the core they retreat all the way to the fundamental bullshit like "COVID-19 is just like the flu" or "there are no excess deaths, hence no pandemic" or "hospitals lie about the cause of the death and write up everyone as COVID". Now, if someone can't sound convincing without resorting to blatant lies, then maybe their point is not so strong to begin with.
Oftentimes when you strip their arguments to the core, you see that you are dealing with the regular kind of anti-vaxxers or people who just fundamentally don't trust modern medicine, and think it's all a big conspiracy. Well, I'm not going to argue with conspiracy theory nuts, nor will I rely on their point of view to guide me.
In the end, the only thing that can reasonably be said is that the long-term effects of these vaccines are unknown. That is simply true, and no amount of testing and clinical trials could compensate for that, because long-term effects by definition only become obvious after enough time has passed. There definitely are unknown risks here. The thing is that there is a lot of talk about the unknown long-term risks of the vaccine, but somehow people forget that COVID-19 is a novel virus, and being infected with it also has unknown long-term risks, which we know nothing about. I see no reason to believe one is worse than the other.

My case is simple - I can't take Russian vaccine because I have a chronic condition that is counterindication to taking it. I may have better luck with foreign vaccines for COVID-19, but it doesn't seem they are available here.

Lol, immediately thought of syringe execution in Manhunt 2: at level 3 (gruesome) it features a stab and injection into the eye. And the protagonist is a scientist put into insane asylum (he escaped by killing people as instructed by a fellow serial killer) by the way. Imagine a spin: scientist goes crazy, tracks down and kills people who refused to take the COVID-19 vaccine, and injects it into their dead brain. And you thought how the fuck do you make Manhunt 3. Story done.

From what i've heard from local people and abroad, it's relatively safe if you're in the US, and possibly a few other countries but I think most of the world is justifiably suspicious of serious adverse effects.
