Honestly this is more like a list of games I've played and need to finish. -Far Cry 2-4 -Dishonored -Hexen 2 -Mirrors Edge -Quake 4 -Black Mesa -Catherine -Super Hot -Ion Maiden(/Fury) -Dusk -Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines -Fallout New Vegas -Skyrim (despite having 500+ hours on the fucking game) Skyrim is only good for so long vanilla, but once you mod the game to an absurd amount it's great. I have around 205 mods installed and play it on a monthly basis.
Actual games I need to play would just be -Crysis -Amid Evil

The first Hexen is an absolute classic, very atmospheric and cool even if the gameplay isn't everyone's bag. The level design alone and puzzle elements make it a must-play and I still take influence from parts of Hexen in my mapping. Hexen II is just awesome, super underrated in my opinion. Using the Quake engine, Raven really took the puzzles to the next level

Only reason why I haven't finished either is the laptop I was finishing Hexen I on has been long dead, and I've made it to hub 4 I think. And with Hexen II I've beaten all the four horsemen and still have Eidolon to fight but haven't gotten around to it, which I need to do. I wanna replay Hexen I again but my god can it be tedious.

TBH, I only played it through once, and used a walkthrough for quite a few of the puzzles. Hunting for items and obscure switches across multi-level hubs didn't appeal to me as I thought it would.

Elder Scrolls series, GTA series, CS:go, a lot more I played about a third of that one. It's really dope, but the controls are a royal mess even with the Extended edition that enables mouselook. You have to switch between the mouse accessing your HUD and looking around all the time. Well I guess that's still better than moving with the keyboard only.

Resident Evil, Silent Hill, other survival horror games. Probably because after a certain point the genre nosedives in quality and has never recovered from it. Its been a while since I played it, but I can't remember any control issues beyond the camera. But I guess if you're really spoiled by modern movement schemes it can be annoying.

Yeah with Hexen 1 it's an absolute pain, Hexen II isn't really any better, it's kinda worse tbh cause everything is more cryptic but that's what I like about it.

All the throwback FPSes that Civvie has been reviewing seem like my kind of jam. Haven't played any of them except for Dusk and Ion Fury which I both enjoyed way more than I expected.

I tried Chasm: The Rift at one point, and remember liking it, but something prevented me from advancing further than a couple of levels.

System shock 1,2 Thief series Baldurs Gate 1,2 Fallout 1,2, PlaneScape Torment and other RPGs of this kind. Grim Fandago Maybe more..
Anyway,. I missed a middle era of later DOS/early Windows, it must have been the golden age. I've been playing 8bit before and few stuff after. After I tried Deus Ex and found what was missing from my life, then realized there was a genre called immersive sim in the late 90s, they are on my list. Also some of those late isometric RPGs. And other late adventure games and so on..

Let me know when you start playing, I won't spoil anything but I'd love to hear your impressions. Those games are really incredible.

Pretty much everything released after 2010. Modern graphics would turn the darklaptop into molten slag.
Guess I ought to play Ion Maiden. Oh, and Caves of Qud, but I know for a fact that I don't have enough time left in the day to start playing another hardcore Roguelike.

Well I've finally beaten Hexen 1 today. It's definitely my favorite Doom engine game, by far. I think I like Hexen 2 better though, just in terms of architecture and the puzzles. Good grief, you haven't played through Thief 1-3? Oh wow, you're in for such a treat dude. Yeah, I've never played the Thief series either. My dad used to tell me all about the first game when I was little and I tried playing through it but never got past the first mission. I'm not a very patient person.

I almost forgot Dark Soul and alike series (Demon Souls, Bloodborne, etc). My brother is very much into these games, I almost promised I'll make a Dark Noobs let's play soon for him to watch and laugh at my casul play.

My brother is very much into these games, I almost promised I'll make a Dark Noobs let's play soon for him to watch and laugh at my casul play. I tried Sekiro based on the recommendation of my friend, and while I could really appreciate the beauty of the game, I never managed to make any meaningful progress because the boss battles are insanely hard. The most annoying thing, though, is that many boss battles do not have a save point right before them, which forces you to repeat a good deal of the map just to set up the next try. I feel like I haven't cracked some secret sauce to make it feel like I am actually winning the encounter by means of improving my skills, and not just randomly due to luck. I may come back to this game at some point and give it another try, but it won't be any time soon...
