sarais, this thread is about you. You're kind of a doucher.

Its normal that people only prefer that you only talk about shit that you know. People don't like it when you're being dishonest. The lengths you've gone to push false narratives are criminally destructive and painful to the people you misrepresent and exhausting to read for those you don't.

On this forum, we care enough about each other to respect each other's time and to trust each other with useful and interesting information. We work with each other to help each other understand facts and perspectives on certain issues and confide with each other our personal demons. Part of being a responsible Doomer is to be willing to give your attention to people as much as you demand it from others. None of us can control the thoughts and actions of others. We can only control ourselves. None of us are obligated to give you useful information. We do it as a charity because we respect our fellow Doomers. The stress you're going through is a result of how little care you've shown for other people. When they can tell they're not being listened to, they reciprocate this lack of care to you and it's not fun. We've all experienced this in varying degrees in our own lives. It really does pay to be a nice, thoughtful, and caring person towards other people, even when you don't think they really deserve it.

You can turn this around, buddy. If I were in your shoes, I'd start with saying I'm sorry for what I said about Jimmy, Terminus, and anyone else. Tell people you don't want all this negative attention anymore, and that you're willing to do whatever it is you need to do to earn back the respect, trust, and good will of your fellow Doomers. Dial back your expectations of other people. Just listen and honor what they have to say. Trust me, I've had to do things like this myself in my personal life. People respect that kind of humility, and it will stop your life from going off the rails and crashing into a raw sewage dump. If you care enough about the quality of your life, I really think you should do this.

I don't want to continue trying to help someone who isn't willing to help himself. I truly do believe that if I can persuade you to consider other people's thoughts and feelings, you'd make for better conversations, make better doom maps, and ultimately make the world a better place. I really do feel that way. But I've made some pretty serious personal sacrifices to do it. I'm losing the respect of my Doomer friends, I've forfeited my 10 year old doomworld account, and I'm conflicted with this personal moral dillemma of whether I should do what's best for me, or do what I think is best for the world. You really do owe me a fat one at this point.

So what do you say? Can you be cool and change the world for the better, or do I have to cut my losses, throw you out, and realize I'm a retard for trying to be a good person?

I don't see any reason to ban anyone...yet. He's let out some grievances, not a lot of it made any sense, bit it doesn't seem to be spilling into other threads. The kind of shit I absolutely do not want to see is the uncompromisingly childish 'Soon the destruction of my enemies at my hand will be complete, then they will all suffer' bullshit or somehow taking any kind of credit for anything negative that happens to random people, the hallmark of the powerless internet teenager.

The problem with 40 is that he thinks everyone is a sane, rational human being who will react appropriately to mild cajoling, logic and intelligent debate / mild rebuke.

Alas, then, when it becomes clear that the only solution to the problem is to embark upon the moderator equivalent of a school shooting.
