This software is an immense pile of shit that doesn't even work properly more than half the time.
I've been trying up 4x upscale a single sprite for a fucking half hour and it keeps failing.
Fucking pile of steaming retarded monkey shit, that's what this is.

I'm getting something out of this thing god dammit. However, this dumb program doesn't seem have have an option to generate transparent images, you have to trim it afterwards, and it gives you that stupid halo, along with white spaces inside the leaves:

So apparently, it runs on DALLE-3, and because it is not trained on images that have a transparent background, it is unable to do it. Thus it is currently fucking useless for anyone that wants a quick way to generate assets for 2.5D games.

Don't know what editing software you're using but I did this in gimp in a matter of seconds. Use a color to alpha setting to make the white transparent if your software has that. If it doesn't gimp is free. There are different setting for how to handle the edges and such. Not perfect but hell of a lot better than trying to trim the shit.

I love how it turned the megasphere into a planet. poor zombie wasnt interesting enough to upscale it seems

Use a color to alpha setting to make the white transparent if your software has that. Wow, I didn't know that. I'd use slade to convert trees to some palette with mostly greens and one white color. And I'd make the white stuff transparent

I do use gimp, but I tried it with just color select and the other fuzzy (?) select, but wasn't able to pull it off.

He called the AtariST game (or Amiga or DOS) which I think is Race Drivin a 2.5D. Because it's primitive compared to modern conception of 3D? But in this case, that game DID use polygons, they are just untextured,. but the process I think was with 3d transformation to project to 2D, fill it with single color triangles just like normally in the 3D engine. Hell, I even insist non polygonal games like Doom are still 3D, how about retro games that were actually like closer to our modern 3D engines?
This 2.5D is kinda crap, and I sperg a lot. Yesterday I sperged about the misleading Tomb Raider Saturn video "2D sprites to make 3D". But I don't think I convinced anyone. I am done.. I want to go in my cave

Maybe in the next 5 years, this is going to be the norm for 2D-2.5D asset generation, and they will have advanced the technology to the point where it will allow for more control over image generation. I'd imagine even stuff that looks like the original doom art, but you could probably dictated it to be however you want. Like "Imp with goro-like arms, and tank-treads for legs" or "Lost soul with Alligator skull instead of human"

I did this by hand in MS paint, I've been a life-long visual artist. I have the ability, it just gets really boring after a while to do these big projects, especially sprite art by frame. I enjoy the fruits of my labor realized in-game, not the process: 100% all my original art (except the gun and hud (hud items too), and grenade item): But one day, AI will be able to produce something just as good. It is inevitable.

It cannot even produce an image with a ready-to-use transparent background.
