The edge of a black hole is known as the Event Horizon, a boundary from which nothing can escape or be observed. I think that there's some similarity to that when it comes to this hobby. A project can absorb oceans of time and yet never be released. Recently, we spoke briefly about that this place can't compete with a machine like Doomworld in terms of content output, and that got me thinking that it would be interesting to know what you are all working on in silence. If you are, that is. So, this topic is for serious projects that you want to release - someday. It may not be be tomorrow, or the next year, but as long as it is finished before the closure of the the Universe and you have a realistic chance or at least sincere intent of making that happen, you can and should mention it here, so that other Doomer Boards members have something to look forward to. Or pester you about incessantly until you have a nervous breakdown which sends you to relive MAP15 in the nearest densely populated area. Due to the nature of these projects, you probably want to be sparse with the details, and also, no stuff which already has a separate thread, please.

I'll go first:
-An E1-inspired (as in action first) set of maps which takes place on Earth. Will be using a new TEXTURE1 lump with redefined textures, along with plenty of new ones (with doom beta influences, for example) to make the Doom II textureset stand out a bit more from the original game. Primary target: Doom II, Choco Doom.
-A series of standalone maps with mission-oriented gameplay which focus on the fighting around the Starport in DooM II. Will be making a serious attempt to create an unpleasant and horrifying atmosphere in a decaying, heavily industralised enviroment. UDMF format. New textures, map sound effects, etc. Plentiful use of scripting, for doors, lights, events and so on. No cutscenes or changes to gameplay.
-A gameplay modification for Heretic which emphasises hand-to-hand combat, tremendous magical power which comes at a dire cost, and an overall increase in lethality - while changing as little as possible of the original concept and resources. Inspired by the wanton and often comical carnage of Myth I & II.

I have not really started on this one, but I had a idea of making a TC. I gave it a codename of "Harlaus's Revenge", if anyone heard of the Mount&Blade beta, and read a bit about it, in a kinda-a-history-and-medieval-warfare-sim-sandbox game Mount & Blade, lemme just short it up, there is little to no fantasy. Yeah, there are imaginary kingdoms on a imaginary continent, but pretty much a lot of things in the game is real and its kinda in a stalemate between Viking expies, Tatar expies, Slav expies, all-islamic-nations expies, and medieval Germany and England expies. Its a fun game, but the point is, that originally there were supposed to be undead in the game, like zombies and skeletons, and a occasional necromancer, but this remained only a beta thing. Basically, there was this plotline about a king coming back from the undead, known in all versions as "King Harlaus". In fact, lemme drop this link here that explains the background: mountandblade.wikia.com/wiki/King_HarlausBasically, the whole affair gets solved on the "Earth" (dunno how is the planet called), and the hero lived long and happy, until he died, and while going to heaven, King Harlaus grabbed his soul and threw him into a dungeon in the big castle that belongs to King Harlaus, suspended between Heaven and Hell in quite a dark place, just below the Purgatory, I would say. Our hero would grab some weapons and fight Harlaus's dark army of zombie soldiers, death knights, skele-a-tons, and would encounter King Harlaus several times, until his "heroic spirit" flew out and demolished half of the castle, effectively gaining advantage in the unfair fight against skeletons and a undead king (a lot of spiritual powers and this and that). It would be a long trip through a dark castle suspended in the void. What matters a lot is gameplay. Most of the time, the player would have to use melee weapons (a sword and shield), only occasionally grabbing a crossbow, and later using some non flashy spells. So I had a idea to make these weapons in real life out of carton and paper, and take shots with my phone (equal as the camera id used, I know which one they used), and make animation out of the frames I got. Well, the plan kinda died off almost immediately, since my phone went to shit and I would have to wait for a new phone now. I made some basic levels, but those are still Doom operable. I know I could use Hexen or Heretic, but I kinda wanna to have the campaign be playable with other mods, so... a lot of work I guess, for something that probably wouldn't hit off in the Doom community (due to *gasp* GZDoom! And *even bigger gasp* mods!!). I did however, have a idea for now to start sculpting clay (for personal art stuff), and I could use these clay sculptures to make new enemy animations! I know id did a good job, but still, this is a TC after all, so... yah, so when the new phone arrives and when I start getting into sculpting, I might garner enough motivation to make this thing. In the end, its a pretty big project for something that could take just mere days just by ripping off other people's sprites and textures.

Harlaus? I remember him from Mount & Blade. That's the bastard who happily attends parties with the other nobles instead of defending the peasantry! Some would call the AI of that game incompetent, but I would call it realistic instead.
Your project seems like a tremendous undertaking, to be honest. Good luck! Also, out of curiosity, what camera did Id use?
