I have been talking to a few of you about my weight loss journey over the past few months. So for those interested, I'll keep you updated here. Updates will be signified by use of the strikethrough tags. April 2017 waistline: 64 inches Current waistline: 50 48 inches 46 42 inches April 2017 weight: 402 pounds Current Weight: 328 322 319 299 289 280 275 250 pounds Here is a photo of me wearing pants that fit me like a tight glove back in April. I just put on the same pants as I am wearing in the above photo that was taken back in...er...October? Maybe November? Either way, here I am on 3/19 wearing them again.

Good job... my boy lost close to 50 pounds earlier this year on a two week diet of chicken, lemon juice, and walking from just Monday to Friday.

Maybe closer to 3 or 4 weeks for the loss, just two weeks of the diet. He went from 115 kg to 97 which is close to 50 lbs.

Pretty awesome Trace. I've met a lot of people who like to say that fat people are fat because they have no self control, they're lazy, eat too much, etc. but I'm a skinny fuck and ever since I got an office job, I've been basically doing no exercise outside of walking my dog, and my diet isn't particularly healthy. I've been nervous about it because I've heard that you really start to reap the consequences of your behavior when you hit your thirties. Joints get achey, back pains happen, and other stuff starts to hurt for seemingly no reason, and your metabolism slows to a crawl. I'm 27 and I haven't seen the effects of it yet, but in my experience, most people who have been relatively thin their whole life are liars when they say its because they take care of themselves. Not to say they are reckless, but because they've never really been fat before and never had the challenges of managing their weight, they're never really thinking about it when they eat ice cream and watch tv all day.

I'm 27 as well. I am starting to feel aches in my knees and back. Hopefully this goes away.
And thanks, man!

I was born in '83 and I can tell you that at least in my experience, what 40oz said is correct. Maybe not the metabolism part, but the rest. It does require effort to stay in shape / be without pain once you've passed 30.
Keep at it Trace! WWDD?

Great job Trace! You've made some amazing progress, keep up the hard work! Maybe closer to 3 or 4 weeks for the loss, just two weeks of the diet. He went from 115 kg to 97 which is close to 50 lbs. Either way, that's really not a healthy way to lose weight in my opinion. Generally the slower you lose weight the better it is for you. I'm not hating on your friend at all, just mentioning that because I don't want to see someone suffer future problems because of a rush to get thinner. The slower you lose weight, the less likely your body is to lose muscle along with the fat that you are losing.

My son actually dude, and it was very necessary for him. He was sitting on his arse too long at work, going home and sitting on his arse on the computer and his girlfriend at the time filling him full of fat greasy food. He had swelling around his calves and was losing circulation and had a real risk of needing amputation. So normally I’d agree with you, but my boy needed to lose that shit quick and he has kept it off very well with no health issues. But everyone’s case is different of course.

I lift weights three times a week to prevent muscle loss, as intermittent fasting can seriously deteriorate your muscle mass if you don't. So far, my muscle mass has seen a noticeable increase while my bodyfat percent has seen a noticeable decrease.

As long as you’re monitoring and thinking about what you are actually doing, you’ll do great.

I guess you are correct that there sometimes are extenuating circumstances. I'm just glad to hear he's doing well, that's all that matters.

Changed up my workout regimen per my buddy/trainer's advice. It used to be Mondays-Wednesdays-Fridays (Chest/Triceps-Back/Biceps-Legs/Shoulders) with three muscle movements for the focus group and a single muscle movement for the secondary groups (sans Shoulders, as they get three movements while legs only get one). But now I have a little bit of everything each day at the gym. Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays now each consist of a chest, back, shoulder, biceps, triceps, and leg motion. So my new schedule will probably look more like this: Monday - Bench Press, Lat Pulldowns, bent rows, Modified Tricep Pullovers, Standing Military Press, Squats Wednesday - Flat dumbbell press, Dumbbell Rows, (tricep workout TBD), 21s Arnold Press, Deadlifts Friday - Incline dumbbell press, cable rows, close grip inward facing palm lat pull downs, dumbbell shoulder press The goal is to increase the weight in my sets by separating all of the different muscle groups over the course of my week instead of hitting them all on the same day.

Trace, now that you becoming more serious about lifting weights, I'd suggest you consider doing a program that will give better results and lessen your chances of injury. I've been lifting weights seriously for 20 years, and I've tried it all. The best programs are the ones used by top-level athletes who get paid millions of dollars, because they can't afford to have injuries/setbacks due to bad technique/ego lifting, and their trainers are tasked with obtaining maximum results in the shortest timeframe. I suggest you check out Jason Blaha on youtube. He does not sell supplements and makes no money on his program, so his advice is trustworthy(it's also why he's almost universally hated by the fitness industry). I have been following him for years, and using his methods I've gotten stronger than ever at 38 and healed many nagging injuries I had had for years because of doing shitty bro-splits and broscience movements. Good luck! www.youtube.com/channel/UCNqbcf-5nORpyfzrqQNLSVw
