Headphones includes earbuds, beatz, or whatever stuff you wear to put the sound source right up to your ears
Speakers are equipment that produces sound that fills a space that you're in listening distance from.
I think the question comes down to what your threshold for sound quality is and whether the privacy is important to your listening experience.
I personally prefer speakers.

I use speakers all the time, then use earbuds at school, and a headset if I ever decide to speak on the mic. Headsets can be kind of heavy, and I really like my earbuds. Head equipment for privacy. Speakers all the way though.

Headphones. I don't want to disturb others with stuff they might not be interested in, I don't want them to judge what I'm listening, I don't want anyone to know what I'm doing right now. Music is a very personal thing for me. Also that way I can better appreciate the effort musicians put into stereo sound.

Both have their pros and cons. I feel a tad claustrophobic with ear buds in sometimes, bizarrely. If you're mixing something you really should be using headphones, but speakers are great as well, for example listening to music while I drive is one of my favorite ways to enjoy music. I couldn't choose just one or the other even for casual listening

Headphones, because I play Doom and it requires surround sound for environmental understanding.

I like earbuds, I recently bought a pair from Sony, for quality. But the volume is very weak. Probably due to consumer regulations; like how they warn you about ear damage in a pop-up screen when raising the volume on your phone to the max.

Speakers, except when I'm at a public place or something (obviously). But when I'm alone shitposting in my den -- speakers of course. Also hey, post #200.
