Here's a story about how a content creator in the Vyond animation community made a fiction animation about a little girl who got grounded for breaking her dads laptop, which betrayed all their fans' perception that the girl was good and would never do bad things. It goes into brief detail about the insane backlash that followed, who was involved, and how the ending played out.
This guy's synopsis of the whole situation is a lot of fun and very funny. It would be cool if the doom community had someone like this guy doing videos about Doom community drama so he can put into perspective how enormously petty it is to put so much stock into everything Doomer Boards related.
Anyway, as a favor to those that need a drama fix, please use this thread to post about about controversies and drama that takes place in in non-doom communities and non-doom-adjacent communities.

PLANT COMMUNITY DRAMATHATS RIGHT, PLANT COMMUNITY DRAMA Plant people have drama? YES plant people have drama. People have formed alliances and literally wanted to find and kill each other in a community formed around the peaceful, tranquil, watering, repotting and growing of various plant species. Last year the plant community suffered a massive divide. Kaylee Ellen's youtube channel started from humble beginnings, live streaming her plant repotting and sharing fun facts about different plant species she's learned about, to growing in such popularity that she's about the single most popular go-to figure for information about trending and current best plants to get. In summary, her videos started to influence a lot of people on what plants are more valuable than others. This caused two problems, the first being that new and interested growers were being influenced to buy plants that were terribly expensive and yielded... well.. I guess uninteresting results??? Plants that either didn't grow well, had boring looking leaves, required excessive maintenance despite being advertised differently by the videos, The second and much bigger source of conflict, was that the result of Kaylee's channel's plant recommendations influenced a lot of scalpers to buy up seeds for rare and house-friendly low-effort plants to grow, and price gauge whatever is good and trending. These assholes would hoard up these common house plants, made artificially rare, for a profit causing a lot of distress for those who do it as a hobby. This created a clear divide between the scalpers and the rest of the plant people who grow plants for fun and the new growers who were being exploited and taken advantage of. Kaylee took a lot of heat for either intentionally or unintentionally driving the market in her videos.

I Googled "Spoctor" (the Youtuber's name) and on the first page we have an article talking about people who are accusing him of being a pedophile. What a surprise! Not that I'm going to read any of it, I don't need to go through all that shit to be able to guess that a dude who follows people who make cartoons with usernames such as "CutePrincess PrecureFan9000" might be a pedophile. Because all I read in eight seconds was a rant from an irate fangirl. I did notice this part though, where it talks about how Spoctor argued that even IF he was going to fuck a 12 year old when he was 16, it wouldn't be a big deal because there's only a four year difference there. Apparently there has to be a gap over five years, the more ya know. "You got it all wrong brah! The 12 year old itself wasn't what was making me horny, they were just feeding my kink! Besides, THEY were hitting on ME, and they might or might not have been 14 anyway!"  |

reddit.com/r/hobbydrama has a lot of stories like this. I just quickly searched up "Doom" and saw posts about Bloodite Krypto's spergout and lilith.pk3  But there's also a lot of other interesting stuff there. For example the story when it turned out half of the Scots Wikipedia was written by an American gay furry autistic teenager and Doomworld moderator. Scots is a somewhat endangered language spoken in Scotland, similar to English but still quite distinct, yet our hero would just bastardise English text and write it off as Scots. Lots and lots of English text. I remember that story. Funnily enough, I was studying scots at uni at the time.
Looks pretty incomprehensible, but really it's just a spelling issue. Someone who spoke modern scots (mostly english with a funny accent) would pick up 90% of it.
The point of this lesson? Scots has always been a variant of English. In fact, it's possible that Chaucer spoke with an accent that is closer to modern scots than modern English (his name, for example, we pronounce as "Chawsihr", not "Chausoor" as you'd expect in later French-influenced courtly English). I'd add that the driving difference between the evolution of Scots and English is that English codified its language in dictionaries, whereas Scots doesn't give a fuck and never has. English spelling is a law unto itself, whereas pronunciation in Scots actually differs depending on where in Scotland you are from (Prof. says 7 distinct Scottish dialects - I'll tell you that each one has different sub-accents, and these sub-dialects are no longer even geographical).
It's a fucking strange thing, but a town 5 miles away from another town can differ wildly in pronunciations and lexicons. There is an entire village called Coupar Angus that speaks in a low, dull monotone with no nasal intonation, just because the industrial slaughterhouse there smelled so utterly and completely of rancid shit 24 hours a day that three fucking generations of townspeople stopped breathing through their noses. It's like that fucking aborigine circular breathing thing that they use to play the didgeridoo, I shit you not.
So, back to the original "autist destroys scots language" - no, he fucking didn't. He destroyed scots language about as much as fucking bronies ruined the equestrian events at the olympics, which is to say not at all. A bunch of American larpers got butthurt because they looked stupid, the end. No one in Scotland is looking up a fucking wikionary to learn how to speak their native tongue because no one gives a fuck about the "proper" way to do it, there *is* no proper definitive Scots language, and because no one in Scotland even knew of this wikionary's existence it was able to trundle along quite happily for 8+ years before some tedious academic threw a bitch fit and ruined the autism for everyone.

A shame? No, not IMHO. The idea that they were training AI to translate english into scots - for government documents, amongst other things - is fucking retarded. That's like using a fucking artificial intelligence to render the American constitution into street ebonics. Good for a laugh, but who the fuck is it meant to be for?
Don't get me wrong, I love my language, but part of the reason I love it is because it resists this sort of google bullshit. It's too fluid, it evolves too quickly, and it is too atomized for codification - it's worth noting that Shakespeare existed before dictionaries, and perhaps the reason he is still held in such high regard is because he was working in a language that had no hard and fast rules. Shakespeare made shit up on the spot, he invented words bespoke and stole shit from other languages Willy-nilly.
Rules and laws (and, I'd argue, dictionaries) stifle creativity; this is not to say that you shouldn't know about the rules and laws. In fact, you need to be fluent and understand why those rules and laws exist in order to break them to best effect. Ignoring the discipline required of a draftsman results in a shitshow akin to that of modern art, wherein half the students can't fucking draw and just rub menstrual fluid onto the canvas before calling it a day. It's the difference between a mature piece of art and a toddler smearing shit up the walls.

Anyone professing to teach modern Scots is a grifter (Irvine Welsh springs to mind, who made a fortune touring America on the back of Trainspotting doing exactly the same thing as our glorious Wikionary Autist was doing). The reason why academia went fucking mental about this is because it hit too close to home (eg. endangered the grift), and because foreign students were probably using it to write papers on fucking Burns and not a single professor noticed for EIGHT FUCKING YEARS.
