i fuckin got baited into watching an episode in season 33 of the simpsons from this shitty new york post article.

They fuckin claimed that Joe Rogan was in it, with a screencap of some dude that has a really vague but barely a resemblance to rogan. I cant believe i fuckin fell for it.
first of all, ive stopped watching simpsons like 20 seasons ago, but i do occasionally like to relax to an episode or two from seasons 3-12. Its still pretty good after all these years and its fun to see what the writers had to say pre-internet. They knew what they were talking about.
For its time, Simpsons had really on-the-nose topical commentary on the, then, current events. And honestly, 30 years later, a lot of it still applies today. Its good, well written shit that stands the test of time for the most part. theres some low hanging fruit here and there but a lot of it is really solid wholesome fun.
i dont know much about the simpsons lately but i hear its pretty terrible and im afraid to find out how my childhood favorite show gets ruined. and holy lord are they not kidding.
Nevermind that the script for this fucking show is dogshit. The episode sets the scene with marge so excited to try out her new vacuum cleaner that she kicks homer and the kids out with the dog to go to the dog park.
Its like a classroom forced children to come up with a premise for a simpsons episode as an assignment for school, and they picked the one with the most average grade.
but good god, its really unsettling to watch what once was a beloved and familiar cast become washed out marionettes that recite the lazy thoughts and opinions of popular twitter accounts. Every family member is a hollow shell.
Homer used to be a beloved model of unearned pride in all the worst qualities of the average american family man.
In season 33, Homer is a dumb baby with brain damage in a 40 year olds body, but in order to drive the plot forward, he somehow ages backwards into millenial social awkwardness when he rewards the family dog for its behavior that deters homer from socializing with other "dog people" at the dog park. Have these writers even watched the simpsons?
honestly, the whole plot device and character lines that carry this episode (and presumably the rest of the show) sound like the writers are too tired to keep up with everything thats happening on the internet. Even as being borderline plagiarism of popular internet commentary, it seems so 'dated.' Every line that isnt carrying the plot forward is some non-joke idiom that would work doubly as well as a tweet from some random persons twitter account 4 years ago. The characters in this show are barely talking to each other. Its not even funny, but most boring simps on the internet would hit the like button on it if there was one to press.
anyway, theres no joe rogan in this episode. i cant believe this even warranted a news article. They didnt even prop the joe rogan doppelganger as an extra. its basically a family guy cutaway. The entire scene is captured in the static screenshot they used at the top of the page. its like a 3 second moment where homer sees the "rightwing podcast house" sign, screams and runs away.
Thats it.
The rogan looking figure doesn't even have any lines and the part isnt built up to, or referenced ever again in the episode. It wouldnt even be a cheap potshot if the article didn't frame it as one. Its so ambiguous in its delivery, it doesnt look like it even has an opinion on joe rogan at all if they didnt hear he was 'right wing' from some shitty tweet they scrolled past while they were slavedrivenly mining the internet for humor to punch up the show with.
Its the most out of touch thing ive seen in a long time and thats coming from somone who has to read the posts you guys write here sometimes.
