Doomer Boards istant messaging group/channel when?

Last time we had a Discord server, it didn't end too well. Just saying!

Posts do instantly appear here, but forums are kinda made for big high effort posts(not necessarily a bad thing), and it's a lot more natural for people to make two small posts in an instant messenger(would've dropped an lmao at Xeep's post if this was an instant messenger)rather than a forum. There's also single word messages like "hi" which are intended to start a convo, and chains, and ofc Gen Z's favorite, mental breakdown posts. These things aren't really meant for forums. That's neither a pro or con. Also instant messaging usually meant to be run in the background while you do other stuff but it isn't really the same for forums, they don't notify you instantly when someone makes a post.(only exception I know is Invision, the software DW uses)

I'm not trying to shift the community to an instant messaging platform(forums are and will always be better imo) I'm just saying that it'd be no harm to have a group in one of them. The fact that that you don't need to refresh for new messages makes them better suited for small convos(I forgot the specific word, but you get it)

Looking at prism-break.org/en/all/ , scroll down via Ctrl+F "Discord", and we get some contrived alternatives to choose from...
I guess we'll need to decide on XMPP server and then we can connect to it:
- via ChatSecure on iOS
- via Conversations on Android ( github.com/iNPUTmice/Conversations )
- Psi for Windows and GNU/Linux system
First two options should natively support OMEMO for encryption of private group or individual chats. Public groups which anyone can join are unencrypted. Psi supports OMEMO via plugin, and this is the only kind of encryption protocol avaiable in group chats in Psi.
I hope these all are interoperable, in any case if encryption is not desired, might have an easier life with client compatibility. And yes, this option should prevent anyone from having to associate themselves with a fucking phone number, otherwise Signal would have been good because I have already used it.

Ok, it looks like I've found an IRC client I might use. It's called HexChat.

that even permits the use of Tor to connect. Means that if server gets blocked in some country because of stupid censorship, there might be a way to bypass the block.

And as for an official Hitlerboards™ chat... fuck, I can barely be bothered reading the posts here to make sure there isn't any utterly haram retardation going on, there is no fucking way I want to babysit a bunch of mentally incompetent discord diaperfags as a side gig.

Point is that site-adjacent shit almost always end up with secondary mods. good-old, of course it would, since you grew up conditioned to treat it like an existential threat. Humans, just like other animals, have a survival instinct, but not only direct threats of death are the ones that condition human behavior, but also the threat of being denied care by a parent and community which is also interpreted as a threat to one's own survival, hence adoption of behavior that doesn't result in denial of that care. There also exists a mechanism of projecting the adopted set of restrictions onto others (demanding they obey the same restrictions)...

As for running a server, I wish you could actually do something about securing your own future rather than serving this community at your own expense. Your parents won't support you monetary forever, you have to think of how'll you get the income you need to maintain the desired lifestyle, and that's a subject that is posited like an iceberg, once you dive underwater you'll see it's very big, and education is a very important part of it.

Then don't make it official. Simply find a replacement for Discord and that's it. Currently IRC leads... I don't mind it, but please make channel somewhere Tor is accepted.

Also, preventing a coup completely shouldn't be a goal. We need coups to fix things like Doomworld or Zdoom forums. Putting a boot on schisms means people can't even correct shit if it actually gets broken (board gets hacked, or we all go insane because of alien rays and a reboot is needed). I'm not even sure if DBK will be forever home on Zdoom forums - what if eventually Zdoom mods go after those people, there is a number of them with seemingly right-wing views (doomro bro for example)?

I mean, some regimes in 21th century really deserve to be overthrown. Problem is, it is not the beginning of 20th century, so cannot happen. With 20th early tech, we crossed the melting point and the civil war ticking bomb long-time ago. Fucking Lukashenka holds for too long for the inept governor he is. But I've read (not yet finished) a bit of a book by Hillary Mantel "A Place of Greater Safety", and you know there is a depiction of the pre-revolution kingdom that was running out of money to pay for the "nobility"'s appetites, well guess somewhere the history has started repeating that pattern already.

I took some more observations about myself, and I think instant messaging can soak up some of the rants, which are not related to the happening of the doomer boards but rather are external to it. Bitch about what you read, heard, etc. elsewhere out of the forum - there are definitely posts that don't deserve to be immortalized, because they can't really effect positive changes in people (for that you need a lot of hard work). So that stream of conscious can go into some dump, on the premise that all participants agree it's a dump, and won't hold grudges over shit discussed yesterday.

Problem is, if someone fails to see it that way.
