I released this a while back on DW, but thought others here might enjoy it as well.
Nostalgia Ain't What It Used to Be is 10 full maps/3 mini story-maps for Boom-compatible ports. Tested in PrBoom-Plus and GZDoom. PrBoom-Plus with a Software renderer is recommended as not all visual effects will work in GZDoom/GL renderers. Software rendering is not strictly required.

Requirements:
* Software renderer recommended (but not required)
* Freelook recommended
* No jumping
* No crouching
* Pistol start optional
Other recommendations:
- The pistol is not useless anymore. It has perfect accuracy and fires faster than vanilla. Consider it for ammo conservation and long-range engagements.
- Secrets will make difficult maps considerably easier, so keep an eye out for them.
- There are many hidden references you may recognize. They are just for fun and aren't necessary for progression.

Background
Among some old boxes I found a stash of floppy disks covered in dust. They still worked.
On them were a bunch of discarded old 90's-era maps, made by me but never published. To my surprise, some of them contained interesting ideas.
I set out to restore them up to semi-"modern" standards with a running storyline, but not lose their 90's spirit, if that makes sense. I tried to create something that felt fun and nostalgic yet new enough to be enjoyable.
I hope you will enjoy it too.

Story
A drifting, dead planet shows signs of having once supported life. Scanning reveals the sites of their sacred artifacts, now lost to time and decay. But, preserved in thick ash, you find one of their most venerated ancient totems. These items are so revered that virtually every household had at least one, if not more.
What is its purpose? You bring it aboard your ship to probe its mysteries for yourself.
Dig through the past to learn about this ancient society. Discover the secrets of the Knowers, a mysterious group with untold motives whose actions may have shaped the course of history for these ill-fated souls.
